We get 5 paid days for immediate family (spouse, parent, child, sibling, IL). We get 2 paid days for other relatives.

we get upto 5 for spouse,child, parent, sibling,grandparent.

I once worked for a company that only gave you time for an immediate member - but anyone else you had to use vaca time- I quit shortly after my aunt passed away (whom I was very close to) and had to use a vacation day for the one and only day I took off.

Some companies just don't get it....

My old job was 5 days for out of state and 3 for in state for parents, siblings, grandparents, step parents, in-laws, and i think aunts/uncles.. It was so helpful when my grandparents died.

I have heard that my new company is 1 day if its your parents or your child. Otherwise you get nothing. Ridiculous!!! My co-worker's boyfriend's mom died - they have been "dating" for more than 20 years and have been living together for about 15.. and she got NO days! Had to take a few personal days. Just not right.
