How far in advance did you all start planning?
For DC's birthday? DD just turned 6 months and I'm thinking it's still so early.

We just started....Her birthday is 2 months away. It can't hurt to start early especially if you plan in having it at a restaurant, at home with entertainment, a large guest list

I've been looking for a restaurant/hall for the past couple of weeks. I'm hoping to book one this weekend & order invitations online this week. (DS will be 1 April 16th & party will be April 27th).

I am starting to do some preliminary planning now and DS is 9 months today. BUT we are having it in my house and not a restaurant or a hall and I am not booking any type of entertainment. I think I may have started earlier if that was the case.

DD is 9 months old and I booked the place 3 weeks ago, just ordered my favors (thanks joenick) , bought my centerpieces about a month ago and just ordered my invitations. Some might say I'm crazy...Like my DH and they may be right.

Well we started looking at venues when he was 6 mos b/c it is the weekend of graduation, communions, the week after mother's day & wedding season. After 4 mos of not finding anything we decided to either have it catered in our yard or at the beach.

The month before. I decide what we are going to have and go forth. I only do family and its at my house. I don't see why I would need months to plan

I will probably start about 2 months before. DH will be turning 40 in June so all my party planning will be going into his PIG ROAST. After that I'll start thinking about Caden's 1st b-day party. (he'll be 1 on August 20th)

Jack will be turning 7 months this week - and I just started planning everything seriously this week.
His birthday is the end of June though - so it's a pretty popular time.

I booked the hall for DS's b-day in Nov. His b-day is in early April. The spring time is hard b/c of communion and confirmation parties.

Thanks ladies. Some of you made some excellent points especially about the time of year and where the party will be held. I guess with summertime parties entertainment or venues will probably book early
