Fall starts the week before your party. It's no longer summer and Halloween is the first holiday in fall so I think it's just fine to decorate.

I think you can put some FALL decorations up but don't have to include the Halloween stuff for the party. So, fall colors, leaves, other themes, but not the spiders, ghosts, etc. KWIM?

I would put up fall decor i.e. pumpkins, leaves, fall pillows, etc. But I would not put up anything with witches, cobwebs, spiders or things that say happy Halloween.
FWIW - I have a glass pumpkin that I got at the ren fair last week. I put that out. I will wait for the rest of my fall decor until after labor day.

I usually decorate around the 1st weekend in October. I love the idea of doing all fall decorations and hold off on ghosts, spiders, etc.

I think it's fine. I forget where I was the other day but I know I saw a house in a residential neighborhood decorated for Halloween. Already.
