How does this happen?? - baby left in hot car
sun-sentinel.com: A 3-month-old infant died this weekend after a miscommunication between the parents led to the baby being left in a hot car for more than two hours, according to West Palm Beach police.
The family, whose identity was not released by police, went to a park with their child Saturday morning. The mother and father came back to their home in a gated community in the 4400 block of Lake Tahoe Circle and went inside, said city spokesman Chase Scott. During the unpacking of the car, the father thought the mother had brought the child inside and the mother thought the father had brought the child inside.
About two hours later, the parents realized neither had brought in their child and rushed out to the car. They brought the child in the house and realized the infant needed medical attention because the child had overheated, Scott said.
The child was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center Saturday afternoon and police were called. The child died at the hospital on Sunday, Scott said.
weather.com: West Palm Beach reached a high of 96 degrees on June 22, a new record high for the date.
This infant's death in W. Palm Beach marks the 13th child to die in a vehicle due to hyperthermia.
This information comes from Jan Null, Adjunct Professor of Meteorology at SFSU who maintains a website found at ggweather.com/heat/index.htm.
As you might expect, the majority of children deaths have occurred this month and in the South as temperatures have soared into the 90s across the region.
Forty-two children were killed last year from hyperthermia in a vehicle.

what a nightmare
maybe baby was sleeping in car...mom thought dad put baby in crib, dad thought mom...
I can't imagine the scene when discovering baby was in car

two hours....no one noticed they didnt see or hear the baby anywhere in the house for TWO hours!!!!
That is just the saddest thing ever!

That poor baby And that poor family. They will live with his for the rest of their lives, and I don't wish that on anyone.

these stories happen all too often....I just don't get it but I was flamed last time I gave my opnion on this topic so I will just say...many prayers to the family and that poor baby

How does it happen? Just as the article said a miscommunication between parents. They each thought the other one took the sleeping baby into the room.
Most of the times, it's because of a change in schedule for the parents dropping off at daycare...
While I haven't left my sleeping children in a car, it CAN HAPPEN to all of us.
It's devastating to read, but it is a great reminder to all of us for the upcoming summer. Always double check your kids & call to check up on people who are driving your children.
