how do you get rid of your headaches?

I've had a headache for over 24 hours now it's killing me!!! I'm hoping I'll feel better by tomorrow morning since I have my first OB appointment!!

I took 2 tylenol earlier and I've been using a warm compress on my head.....anyone have any tips on how you deal with headaches?

The only thing that works for my headaches is to lay down in a cool, dark, quiet room. I have to have all 3. So I just go to bed and turn off the lights and if there's a fan or something, turn it on. That usually gets rid of it...along with (usually excedrin but since the pregnancy...) Tylenol.

You might also be dehydrated or hungry. Definitely drink a big glass of water before you lay down, that could do the trick.

Truthfully, a little caffeine does the trick for me. Like a 1/4 of a can of Coke will make me feel 100% better.

i'm crashing... eating a banana works for me. I also get them frequently if I am dehydrated.

I find caffeine definitely helps & lying still for a while; definitely be sure you're drinking a lot of water also.

I lay down with hot compress/ice pack-switch off!!! And a cup of coffee, def helps!

i usually take some tylenol and get in a hot shower while dh rubs the base of my skull/neck (where mine seem to originate) then as soon as the tylenol starts to kick in i get in bed with a compress and try to go to bed.

also try to drink a lot and i've heard caffeine can work (though i haven't tried it). if you're tired of getting up for compresses try a heating pad and if you don't have that throw a potato in the oven or microwave until it's hot, wrap it in a dish towel, and use that. the heat will last much longer. (my mom taught me that when i was desperate for some relief a few weeks ago.)

Sorry Helen, I had a few early in PG, and liquids definitely helped, esp. coffee or tea. If it was awful, I took a tylenol and called it a day. Feel better!!!!

sleep....thats all that helped....so invest in some naps...lol

eta as for the dizziness...i remember that...... horrible feeling ....make sure u are eating constantly...some snacks like crackers pretzels anything like that....and of course water constantly....get up extremely slowly like in slow motion as if u were old or something....lol...thats the best way to describe it and that lessens the dizziness when u get up from a sitting/laying down position...i also felt this way everyday of my first trimester so i had to figure out how to do it everyday going to work.....so this is what i did....i had the snacks on my bedside table and as i got ready for work i ate the whole time until i got downstairs to make breakfast then i got into my car and had saltines in the glove compt and ate as i drove and when i got to work i had saltines in my desk.....lol...it helped my enormously

Before getting pregnant I would get migraines all the time- and then at the beginning of the pregnancy it was pretty bad-

I would drink a glass of soda...relax with my eyes closed and sometimes I would place cold or hot compresses (whatever seemed to work) on my forehead...

it worked...

The good news.... they get better! knock on wood---I have not had a migraine since the first trimester...barely even a headache

I had such a horrible headache last night it made me cry...it was so bad and all i could take was tylenol and that has never worked for even before i got pregnant. I just drank alot of water, shut all the light off since i seemed to be light sensitive and laid down. I feltso much better this morning.

I use Tylenol Extra Stength and heat. If the heat doesn't work I try ice packs. Also, a little coffee or soda for caffeine helps.

Usually a quiet, dark, silent room helps me. You can also take tylenol, though I always try to hold off from taking medicine as much as possible. But I started getting pregnancy migraines and my DR actually told me to start having caffeine every day. I only drink a small, safe amount and it made a ton of difference. Of course, this was after 8 straight days and nights of a migraine that never went away.

Only sleep worked for me (but I didn't want to take anything).

tylenol, a small amount of caffeine or a temple massage helps....

massive amounts of pressure where it hurts and then let go....
