How do you feel about excessive parent baby talk in public

I'm sorry JMO but it totally annoys me. I was waiting at the doctors office and a daddy was going on and on for the longest time to his daughter about what the kid ate, what her poopies looked like from what she ate, where her body parts were, commenting on all of the patients waiting and all in this annoying baby voice!

Ugh! the hormones are out of control!!!!Chat Icon

Oh I thought you meant baby talk in as in "your ba-ba" etc. which I can't stand. It's a BOTTLE, say BOTTLE or your kid is going to sound like an idiot when he grows up.

I fight the urge to strangle my son's new pre-school teacher who tells me that "Joseph needs to clean out his listening ears." All I can offer her is if she didn't talk like that & used adult words, he'd respect her more.

I talk to Miranda a lot, probably more at home than when we are out. I think talking to your children as much as you can is how they learn vocabulary. I don't know, it doesn't bother me but maybe at the end of my pregnancy it would have.

ETA: I do NOT do it in a baby voice. I try to talk normal to her. I missed that part of your post.

LMAO! I dont talk to my kids in baby talk either for the most part. I do say stuff like nappy nap or sleepy sleeps but believe me, my son told me when it was enough - in so many words. Ugh! Sometimes I cringe hearing people talk to their kids. I was at the Childrens Place outlet one afternoon and they had some totally cute stuff for little girls on sale but I heard this other mother talking to her daughter like she was shopping with her best friend - "OMG Susie look at this" or "OMG Susie that" about every frickin piece of clothing. The kid was about a year old!! It was so annoying to listen to.

Im sooo guilty of this!!!Chat Icon

Last year with my pre-k class...I always said this... to them it was kinda a game... If they child would get outta hand I would say. "Kayla did you leave your listening ears @ home?" She'd think to herself giggle, and pretend to turn them on....

It was very effective with my class

I agree that it would get annoying after awhile but for the most part, no it doesn't bother me.

I talk baby talk because it makes her smile. I sound like an azz, but I will do anything it takes to make my little girl smile!
