How do u feel...? (IL related)

If your IL's call u up and just invite themselves over? Personally I think this is rude (regardless who it is) Today my IL's for the first time in the 2 yrs we have been married call to say they were in the neighborhood and wanted to stop by. There is no stopping by with them. they would of stayed for dinner and after. I said it wasnt a good time due to the fact DH wasnt home. I feel like this is the beginning of them doing it all the time bc im having a baby in Feb and we just bought a house. HOw do a I address this so this doesnt become a habit with them? TIA

i personally don't mind all the much. Especially since it is rare that they do..

My ILs are very much stay at home people so I don't think it would ever happen - but I would NOT be happy if it did.

I don't find it rude. I think family is just kinda like that! And I wish my IL's lived close enough to drop on by.

I hate it. MIL does it all the time and does not call first- she's also the type that expects to be catered to so I have to stop whatever I'm doing for however long she is there...now that I'm expecting it will get worse

Hate it. Happened to me today.

I could barely look at them I was so annoyed.

They know how I feel about drop bys, and btw, calling when you are ON my front porch does NOT constitute calling ahead.

I hate when people drop in, especially someone like IL's. Fortunately my IL's can't do that because they live in Poland.

Unfortunately they did something similar by MIL booking plane tickets and announcing when she would be coming to visit us (she is here now, but my mom took her back to her house to relieve us)

my MIL lives 500 miles away (thankfully!). but if she lived near us, I would be PLENTY p*ssed if she just dropped by on a regular basis!

I dont mind it ... they dont really do it often-but we live only about 10/15 minutes away from eachother, we see them all the time. we stop there without notice, they can stop over without notice

HAte it- and I hate even more when they stop by w/o even calling!

I have to say it has gotten so much worse since baby...

More so than the surprise visits they tell me- when Im visitng them...

For instance I got an email today TELLING me- I will be eating dinner their Wed the 27th- and various other things w/ the family(since my SIL will be visiting) on the 28th, 29th and then breakfast on the 30th.... OH and then WE WILL be there on New YEars day for dinner

I don;'t mind since it doesn't happen often with my MIL/FIL.
BIL is a ddiferent storyu though because he NEVER LEAVES

I don't think my IL's would do that ever- it's just not them so I don't really know how I would feel. I think if it was something that happened frequently I would get annoyed b/c it can be stressful if you have things going on and then all of a sudden you need to start entertaining.

I feel bad b/c it must be hard for you- your best bet? Caller ID and don't pick up the phone-- I'm so bad, I always avoid things like this.

Mine always call first. They are about 45 minutes away though and we see them more often than I would like.
