Re: Hobbies?

Road trips. Checking out new restaurants. Baking -special occasions only though. Dancing, belly dancing specifically, I did it professionally for some time when I was younger.

Hobbies?

I love anything crafty. I got a cricut machine for christmas so I've been making things with that. I also dabble in painting (watercolor and acyrlic), jewelry making, and I just refinished an old piece of furniture.

i LOVE yarn.

i knit, crochet, sew a little, i haven't embroidered in years. i also enjoy cooking/baking. i can't wait for the weather to cool off a bit so i can start baking bread, again.

right now, i'm doing my very best to not buy a single craft related item and use what i already own.

i have enough yarn to fill a room, enough needles and hooks to make 100 items and each have their own hook or needle.

i currently have a "baby yoda" sweater on my needles. i found a cowl neck pullover sweater and am modifying the pattern to be a cardigan to imitate the coat from the movie. i made the cowl neck and i've made the increases for the sleeves. i'm officially in the armpits. i will be starting the sleeves tomorrow... before i go back and finish the body. then it's steeking (cutting the knit fabric to turn a pullover into a cardigan). that's always fun.

That’s awesome. I used to knit and I have a bunch of yarn in my basement. I mainly did socks. I suffer from second sock syndrome.

this is why i knit two-at-a-time. no second sock syndrome!
you can always send me your yarn and i'll make you socks!!

or...

i can send you all my money and you can buy me some Wollmeise Chat Icon

I have never heard of that brand. It’s been a while since I have bought yarn.

https://www.rohrspatzundwollmeise.de/en

Is that the stuff? You can order it online. Can it be shipped to you? Or is that a problem? I can help if you need it.

yes, that's the stuff.
historically, it's been tough to get in the US. it's quite coveted on this side of the atlantic. when my son joined the marines, i wanted him to be stationed in germany just so i can have him buy me yarn lol.

I don’t know anything about knitting but I’m curious to know what makes this brand special?

there must be something in the air in germany lol
the yarn this company sells is all the things a knitter wants/loves. it's strong and sturdy, but it's also soft and feels great to knit and to wear. also, the colors are amazing. their colors are very vibrant and beautiful. then there are their "colorways" - which is fancy talk for the color combinations. they put together colors that make your heart happy to look at.

knitters and crocheters all over the world love all the yarn variations this company sells. they always sell out. it's the Coach / LV of the fiber world.

I wish I still knew how to crochet. I miss having all of my great aunts around, they were awesome at knitting and crocheting and when my sibs, cousins and I were little they use to teach us.

MarathonKnitter - Is it hard to teach yourself online to do either?

it's not difficult at all. it's even easier these days... with youtube, tiktok, ravelry, craftsy, and pinterest.

i learned to crochet when i was 7 from a friend and then my mom.

i taught myself how to knit using the internet (BEFORE YOUTUBE LOL) when i was 27.

reach out to me if you need some help, i'll be more than happy to walk you through anything.
