Help 10 month old Hitting....??

My DS is 10 months keeps hitting/slapping me constantly. He thinks it is cute and laughs. It was when he was like 6 months. Now it hurts! It is a battle in the morning when we are laying in bed. He slaps my DH, other kids even our dog when he is trying to play.

Need advice on what to do?? I tell him NO and I hold his hand down he gets upset and does it again but softly.

Please give me some advice??

The 1st time ds hit me in the face, I told him no. The 2nd time I hit him back (not to hurt him but it did surprise him) & he got the message.
