No, but that sounds like them!! Some woman kept telling me that I was going to lose my home over and over!! It was like they never spent any money, ever!!
sorry, when i hear about nasty people i automatically think of the girls on the knot. don't listen to them. they don't know your whole financial history based on one post about money. and you are not the first to go through $$ problems, we all have at some point.

Ive said this before (so many times)... yet nobody ever believes me so i'll say it again.
When you start posting on other websites... you will learn that this website (LIF) is the EXCEPTION to the rule.
You post a story on LIF... and yeah its the norm to get tons of hugs icons and stuff. This website is very defending of their own and will rarely (IMO) give somebody the honest truth.
But you post what you post to 95% of the other forums out there.... and you will get the response you got.
Why do you ask? Why not.
You vented about your money problems and frankly people gave you HONEST advice.
Whats wrong with cutting out your cell phones? You can dial 911 from any cellphone for saftey reasons even if it doesn't have "activated service".
Cable is very expensive... and if money is tight that should be eliminated too because its a very expensive monthly bill. My wife I believe told me you can get basic cable for under $20 buks a month... yet a lot of people have bills way over $100.
You are probably tight for money right now cause you bought new cars instead of used. Hell... June262004 will preach on and on that there are plenty of good RELIABLE used cars that are not prone to break down (HONDA) and she is right.
Maybe I am putting it in a "nicer tone" than that website did.
Just remember that LIF and LIW is the exception to the norm... and if you can't take somebody being dead honest with you... I suggest you don't browse other forums.
Just my two cents.

That *****, but it sounds like helpful advice to me. We have never taken out a line of credit on the house/but have made sure to never buy NEW cars we get "New to us" cars which are normally last years models with some miles on them or former leases and then we just get the warranty. I have dropped my cable in the past. Our cable bill monthly is $115 bucks with internet and a few months of no cable has really made a difference in paying back some debts we had fast. Also I don't have a home phone we just use our cell phones since most of our friends have free pcs to pcs like we do.
So I'm sorry if they said it mean to you but I think there are a few of us on here who have taken away those luxuries without any problem or second thought.

basic cable here on LI is way over 20....more like 50 plus...
But i don't think that is the point.
She is willing to sacrific in certain areas that are more costly...
But it is true..when you post on a chat board you open yourself to criticism. THough i think them saying you are going to lose your house was a bit far fetched.

I kind of agree with DJPill - many other forum are that way BUT I don't think it equates to people that are more "honest" than us here on LIF/LIW. I think they are honest AND often unkind about it -- something that is not necessary and I think we prove here. People are honest on here without being nasty, at least, IMO. I've noticed that in many other forums, the anonymity of the internet makes alot of people more prone to voice their opinions in a nasty, judgemental or condescending way. It also has the uncanny ability to exacerbate "high horse" syndrome! 
Anyway, my guess is that alot of those women were from different parts of the country and really don't have an understanding of how hard it is to just get by sometimes here in NY.
