That's such dangerous rhetoric for his listeners - especially since I assume a lot of them are older. They're not going to take it seriously.

No, he didn't say it was a "hoax", just a "fraud".... so, yeah... very twisted headline....
Sean Hannity used his syndicated talk-radio program Wednesday to share a prediction he had found on Twitter about what is really happening with the coronavirus: It’s a “fraud” by the deep state to spread panic in the populace, manipulate the economy and suppress dissent.
“May be true,” Hannity declared to millions of listeners around the country.

If you don't think the media is making it worse, then you are living under a rock. Just reading from this site what another poster just posted about the woman and the charcoal, it is quite scary.

Conservative media is making it worse. Not peoples' attitudes; the virus itself. It is glaringly obvious that their media outlets have downplayed the seriousness of the virus. The people who are following these media outlets may very well be the ones to spread the virus.
p.s. not all media is liberal. Everyone gets their stories from Reuters and AP. Then, they decide how to attract readers with headlines.
