Had A Vist to the ER

Monday, I had an episode at work. I was totally normal in the a.m. I ran out to pick up lunch, on the way back, my eyes were blurry (almost like when you're driving behind a truck that's carrying asphalt it has that heatish look) so I took off my glasses, rubbed my eyes and still blurry. I went into my office, started to eat lunch, started dropping food all over myself and I was like what the heck is going on, then I was on line and I could see the words on the message board, but I couldn't form sentences, I couldn't remember things, my mouth became numb, my fingertips were numb. So I called my husband and told him what was wrong and he's like call Dr...so now I start getting upset and I'm like I don't know his number (I am like a walking rolodex) so for this to happen to me freaked me out. So a guy I work with came in my office and I was like did this ever happen to you and he said Mare, you're freaking me out I'm taking you to the ER. So he drove me to Huntington Hospital, my DH met me, then ran catscan, ekg, blood work, etc. Nothing. They thought it could be dehydration or exhaustion. So I f/u with my GP and he ran more tests today, ordered an MRI for me and I need to see a neurologist. HE asked me if I suffered from migranes which I don't but do get the occastional sinus headache. So I asked him if thought maybe it could be from the pill. He looked at me strangely and said, how did you know I was just going to ask you that. I said I don't know for some reason lately I'm just getting bad vibes and hearing lots of bad things about the pill. He said a girl came in a few years ago with the exact same symptons and he took her off the pill and her symptons disappeared. So, that's what he's doing with me, however, I still have to continue w/MRI etc in case it isn't the pill. So now my question is to all the BC pills. Anyone on Yaz experience these side effects?

Wow, that is horrible. I've never had any side effects like that before. Never even heard of it. Glad to hear they found a cause though!

That is scary. No, I never had a side effect from the pill. I did have a scare like that when I WAS preggo though - due to dehydration

I understand why he asked you about the migraines. When I get my migraines I sometimes have episodes like that. It is SO scary. I feel like I can't form sentences, I get the numbness, I can't remember things.
I know how horrible that is.
I hope they get to the bottom of it!

I used to be on Yasmin (been off of it for about 3 weeks now) and I suffered from severe migranes that I feel was caused by the pill. I would have very blurry vision to a point where I couldn't read things that were in front of my face. I would become very weak and shaky as well. Since being off of the pill, I haven't had this happen again so it is still up in the air as to whether or not the pill was the actual cause.
I hope you feel better soon and it doesn't happen again. Hopefully it was jsut the pill and now that you will be off of it, it will not return

Sadly enough, I'm hoping it is the pill. I'd rather find out it's that simple.

Wow, super scary! I was on the pill for 6 years and never experienced anything like that.

As a side note you should be tested with a thrombophilia panel-many women that have these only know it when they are on a hormone based birth control. It is a simple blood test.
