Grieving your taxes....

Can anyone give me the name of who they used to do this. How long did the process take? Was it successful?

Re: Grieving your taxes....

I used myself and was very successful - knocked my taxes down ~$2k.

I gathered area comps, included the assessment packet I received when I bought my house and wrote a paragraph explaining why I thought my taxes should be lowered.

My property was reassessed and taxes were lowered.

Check the related links below - you should be able to find more info if you want to hire someone.

Me too.

I did it myself - took the appraisal from when we purchased the house and compared it to what was listed by the board of assessments. I noticed a discrepancy in the square footage of the house, so I filed the appeal on that basis. I looked at comps of houses in our area with the square footage reflected in our appraisal and submitted all the docs to the board.

They reduced our taxes by about $2k a year.

No time to do it ourselves so we are trying Mark Lewis this year. I've heard good things...
