Going to Cape Cod...any recommendations for activities for a 2 year old?

We will be staying in Dennis. I've never been to Cape cod before. We plan on going to the beach of course but any other ideas? I heard there is a whale watching cruise but would a 2 year old handle a 3 hr bought ride? Any other ideas?

P.S. I'm really pi$$ed because we were supposed to go with another couple with a 3 year old and they just bailed. We booked a 3 bedroom house already Chat Icon

Chatham is a nice little town to walk around in - they had some fun little shops - like a brass shop that had toys and things like jewerly made from pennies (just fun to walk around in for something different) they also had an old fashioned candy store and other little shops to browse in. It would be nice to stroll around in.

There are tons of mini golf type places not sure if at three your child might be a little young for that.

The whale watch is nice but might be difficult for a three year old. I have done a few - some have nice indoor areas on the boats that you can sit in - but honestly I am not sure that a child of three would really enjoy or have anything to do on it. - Plus it can get rough.

I think I remembered seeing in local papers childrens theater (like puppets or storytelling).

You can rent bikes with those cart type things that you can put your child in and pull it behind your bike - there are a lot of trails for biking on the island.

Thanks for all the ideas. I'll look into them. I would especially like to rent bikes. Chat Icon

It never even thought about rough waters on the whale watching boat....thanks for pointing that out. That could be a disaster! Chat Icon

I'd think twice about the whale watching, as the previous poster said, the waters may get rough, and you do NOT want to get stuck on the boat, trust me!
Cape Cod is a lazy town, everyone has great ideas so far, but hanging at the beach is really so much fun too!Chat Icon
Definetly hit some of the many ice cream shops.Chat Icon
Take it easy & HAVE FUN!

Oh, I love Cape Cod! I agree, I'd pass on the whale watching with such a youngster...maybe in a few years. I agree, just walk around the cute towns, hit the beaches, check the papers for local craft fairs, etc.

HAVE FUN!
