Getting solicitations that say Welcome to the Neighborhood (but have been here for years?)

Anyone have any clue or did this happen to anyone?

I just started getting solicitations that say "Welcome to the Neighborhood" when I have been here for years.

I am trying to figure out HOW they got our names (it isn't even spelled exactly correct, it's a form of our correct names).

Does anyone have a clue? What can I do? Is someone playing a joke on me? Did I visit a website maybe that tracked what I did and sold or rented my info? I do go to a lot of real estate websites but don't enter my info in (other than maybe looking at my home's info on Zillow).

Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

I work in marketing and we buy about 75% of our lists from direct response companies/magazines- did you order anything recently from a catalog or purchase a magazine?

If the solicitations are annoying, call the company, most will tell you how they got your name and remove you from their list. You can then call the company that is selling your name and ask them to remove you from their lists as well

I don't recall. Especially nothing home related. We did just deal with a mortgage company a few months ago, thinking about getting a second mortgage for a new home. Do you think that is how they got my name, and hence the welcome to the neighborhood solicitations? We never did buy the new home or move though.

that definitely sounds like it could be the case- email or mail the mortgage company a letter that states that you want to be removed from their solicitation list and that they DO NOT have your permission to give away or sell your name to any companies

I keep getting ones from Cablevision that say "welcome to the neighborhood"...when we've been here for 13 years and just dumped Cable when they lost HGTV...figure it's just a bad marketing idea?

From public town regards regarding who the homeowner is.

We recently were going to apply for a tax grievance, with a Nassau based company. Could that somehow be the link? I am racking my brain with this. I want to know HOW they got my info and why they think I am new here. I HATE unwanted mail.

Maybe the mortgage company recorded your new mortgage with the County ? There must be a company out there that trolls those public mortgage records, makes a list and then sells it to interested companies. Chat Icon

ETA:

Whoops, misread your ealier post. You did not actually get the new mortgage. Hum, I am stumped then...
