This is obviously a biased presentation - NOT looking to present "the truth".

I'm not saying anyone should or shouldn't go, but this event is clearly one sided

People having an opposite perspective about this vaccine (doctors, nurses, etc) have been invited multiple times to this and several other events and they have always declined. If u know anyone that would like to participate as a speaker, please send them our way, we’d love to have them. TIA!

Exactly. If this was a truly objective event, providing FACTS from multiple points of view, you'd probably be able to additional find speakers. But it is so clear what the agenda is and that this event is completely subjective, so why would anyone come to speak to those whose minds are already made up?

Mob mentality? Can’t speak for every single person against this vaccine cause I don’t like to generalize but I can firmly tell u I don’t have that mentality, and none of the ppl I know including the organizers and speakers who I know on a personal level.

Our goal is not to provide multiple points of view regarding this vaxine but to share real studies that show lack of efficacy and safety, personal experiences from ppl that have suffered damage caused by gardasil, and what’s happening with bills submitted from senators in favor of this vaxine. Ppl with a different mentality are always welcome to be part of the speaker panel but we cannot speak for them, they’d need to speak for themselves and express their own perspectives. KWIM? Maybe reading the description of the event will give u a better understanding of what it’ll be about.

Gardasil Event

While I do agree that the HPV vaccination should not be mandated and a person's choice, this event is absolutely one sided. I am inundated daily with multiple posts on our town facebook site regarding this event and then all the anti-vacc propaganda and memes from the same people.

Yes! This is so important! Also all the members of the health committee. If anybody needs a list, let me know, I can send it to u. Reaching out to ur school dictrict is also a great idea, Connequot, Commack, among others are writing letters against this vaccine to send to Albany and this was because they all heard the concerns of parents from their districts.

I do not believe it should be mandated BUT it is the first vaccine to stop you from getting cancer which is HUGE. I think many who oppose the vaccine do so based on hearsay. I have family members who are doctors and parents and they are ALL 100% in favor OF getting the vaccine. Just my two cents. I have not seen or heard anything founded that gives me pause on the vaccine.

This is a genuine questions because I haven't yet done any research on this vaccine but does it actually stop you from getting cancer? Or does it protect against a virus that could potentially cause cancer?
Does HPV cause cancer all of the time? Or in some cases does it just lie dormant and never cause cancer?
I don't know much about HPV or this vaccine so I'm just wondering because I have heard this being called a "cancer" vaccine and the thought of that has such far sweeping potential for other forms of cancer- a vaccine that can do that- but is that actually that? Or a vaccine against a virus that could cause cancer in certain cases?

I'm genuinely curious- not looking to start a debate at all.

Vaccine. Not VAXINE

I know very well how it’s spelled. I’m so used to spelling it “vaxine” in FB because of their censoring attempts using algorithm systems that would pick up words like “vaccine”. So I must have forgotten how to spell it correctly in this forum. Thank u so much for picking up on that though! Maybe I should PM u if I ever have a question on spelling. Thank u again!

My understanding is that it prevents certain strands that CAN cause cancer.I do know you can have HPV and have it removed successfully but it can lead to cancer if you do not.

Nope, I agree with you as well.
I was just curious because I haven't really sat down and looked into this too deeply or spoken with my doctor about it yet.
In general though, I am all for vaccines and trust my doctors.

They say we shouldn't have a choice when public health is at risk, and I somewhat agree. I understand the MMR and other immunizations that prevent illnesses that are contagious through just breathing the same air as someone else, but this is an immunization against a sexually transmitted disease and there should be a choice no matter what. It does not pose a risk to the general public and kids in school will not catch HPV just by brushing arms with someone.

If you're all for it, then get it for your kids. Nobody is stopping you. You shouldn't be able to force it on everyone else. There is literally no reason this has to be mandated. It is possible to want this immunization for your kids while respecting the people that don't. It's not one or the other. Whoever wants it, can get it.

Most cases of HPV do not cause cancer and most of the time hpv clears up on it's own. You would be hard pressed to find a sexually active adult that does not have or had at one point, hpv.

I’ve looked into it some myself and it’s supposed to protect you from contracting a few types of HPV - ones that can lead to cancer. HPV is silent. So unless you go for a pap with HPV screening every year, you won’t know. Some don’t know until it’s too late (those who don’t go for regular screenings)

I know a handful of women who had the strains that cause cancer. All have had cone biopsies (some more invasive) to remove pre-cancerous / cancerous cells form their cervix. 1 of them went every 6 months for a pap because of an abnormal result from an earlier exam and after a biopsy, was treated 2x and is ok now.

With that... I personally am against this particular vaccine being mandatory. I am however all for mandating communicable disease Vaccines, including the flu vaccine. This one in particular should be a choice because not Having it doesn’t pose an immediate public health risk. You can’t get HPV from a door handle or a sneeze.

Look at the research on this in Australia. This in not whether you want to mandate or not but the research is compelling.

Link to some research

I'm opposed to this one as well, but it's already mandatory. I can give you my opinion on all the immunizations out there, but this post was specifically about the HPV and the law regarding it is being decided soon.

Yes, it is a vaccine for certain strains of human papilloma virus. The strains it protects against are ones that can lead to
cervical cancer. Calling it a “cancer vaccine” is incorrect.

Makes sense.
I see a lot of people referring to it as a cancer vaccine.
