Gap between the mattress and the crib with Munire?

We got the baby's crib delivered today and there is a 2 finger gap between the mattress and the crib front. We have a pali crib and basically the same mattress for DD and there is absolutely no gap at all. I called Behr's and they tell me that every crib has a 2 finger gap all around and that once you put the blankets in etc (which we don't use) that the gap will be gone and that is normal. Does anyone else have this? As I said there is no gap at all in our DD's crib so I'm concerned but they said there is nothing I can do b.c that is standard.

there is NO gap between my crib and matress, it is almost impossible to shove that mattress into the crib and i have to go and straighten out the sheet after the fact on the side because it gets mushed slightly.

You can use a crib bumper and lower it to go around the mattress area?

Yeah we tried DD's mattress in the new crib and there is no gap - so we figure it is the mattress Behr's gave us not the crib. I think for our peace of mind we are going to return the mattress and just buy the same one we have for DD since we know it is a tight fit.

I just didn't think it sounded right that they claimed the cribs and mattresses are all standard and that a gap happens in all of them b.c we don't have it on DD's.
