I just don't know how anyone in their right mind can support this. If someone wants to test there are plenty of testing sites and at home kits are widely available. Why not just have a place that you can go pick them up on an as needed basis? Honestly I am so disgusted with this administration.
I'm going to say that at this point I actually miss Trump. Ridiculous idiotic tweets and all.

Wouldn’t you go for a test if it turned positive instead of losing out of work in case it was wrong? Not you, but in general why would anyone do that?
What we were told by our docs is that a positive is a positive and no further testing was required. My husband was symptomatic, so I don't doubt at all the validity of the test. I do however, think my home test was wrong, and it being wrong caused me an extra day out of work.

I finally tested negative on Monday at home, so I used that to go to testing center to get an antigen test (same as a home test anyway) by someone who would give me a certificate. I was then able to use the certificate to get out of quarantine early. The home tests made it so I didn't have to go out and test a few times.
So they are helpful towards the end of your sickness.

Not the home test. I used the home test to tell me when I could go out and get a test that would give me a certificate. I wasn't about to waste my time waiting in line when I could have done it at home. I had tested twice before and gotten positives.
My job didn't need the test since my quarantine was up at the same time to go back, so it didn't matter. I wanted to leave quarantine a day early, so I sent it to the health office.

No, it’s just the traditional German paperwork with everything. They actually have many free advice places that help you fill out your paperwork. I like to visit the English ones because they offer them and some vocabulary is not clear to me on the forms. They offer home visits for paperwork if you are in a really bad situation as well.
I also want my recovered status, and you need to do certain things for that. This paperwork was mild compared to other things I have had to do and I couldn’t wait a day to leave quarantine because I had to do something that couldn’t be rescheduled.

Well ok then. I just don't know how anyone in their right mind can miss Trump.
To be clear, I don't know if I "support it" because the tests are only accurate with a high viral load and therefore not super useful. Plus this move seems five weeks too late.
But is this really so horrible? I assume they are fairly cheap. Maybe it'll continue to help bring the numbers down.
This part is not only directed at you, lululu, but I have seen a few people on here recently reduce Trump's harm to "mean tweets" and they are very misinformed. He incited an insurrection and an attempted coup. If that's not enough people can read the 9/20 Senate Intelligence Committee's REPUBLICAN report about the very clear collusion and treason. He's a grifter and a con man and moved millions of taxpayer dollars towards the personal profit of him and his family. The man is literally an enemy of the US and we all need to move on from him. I don't care what party you (general you) support. Enough with this lunacy already. I can't believe he's the frontrunner for the 2024 Republican party ticket. Or maybe I can.

I think this would’ve been more helpful over Christmas break when the lines at testing sites were ridiculous. Now as we are past the peak and testing is more readily available- I feel it’s kind of late…

True and News12 online. Except News12 can send out their trucks to monitor the rain we get to tell everyone what is going on outside their window. I dropped the paper years ago but do follow online as I like to see what is going on around me, BUT, both news have annoyed me lately as there is NOTHING else with them but Covid. News12 got rid of 4 good employees and I try now to just watch for news and traffic as I can follow anything I want online or scroll along.

I guess you didn’t try to go to urgent care or go get tested over the holiday?
I went before the holidays to urgent care for a non covid related issue. Had to wait 2 hours to be seen in a waiting room full of sick people. After that lines were forming hours before they even open and people were turned away because they reached capacity for the entire day by opening.
So while I get maybe this isn’t necessary in your opinion when there is a surge it really is not easy to be tested or even easy to be able to be seen for non covid related issues.
I can’t imagine how the places that will have free test would look if there is another surge probably just as bad as urgent cares.
Listen i am over it all. Think we should go back to normal just pointing out that it really isn’t that easy to get tested during surges.

This is the only reason I agree with it as one week I was on line for 3 hours for my weekly testing for work. The next, right before xmas was 2 hours. I am hoping by the time I have to go again, it will go back to the under an hour or they decide to not make us test anymore.

So don't get tested. (not directing this at you, just the masses!) If you are sick, stay home. Assume it's Covid and stay home. Like you should with any illness.
If you need to be tested for work or travel these home tests won't help much because I can't imagine many people accepting them as they are easy to fake a negative- just run under water.
