first moms and btdt mom regarding mother's day: how are you dividing up the holiday?

so we have dh's mom and my mom and now i am a new mom.

we live in the middle of the two. i am not looking forward to a day of driving.

how do you celebrate all the moms?

For my 1st mother's day last year, DH and I had a BBQ at our house and he did most of the work. It went so well that we are making it a yearly tradition.

My mom, MIL, DW, and SIL (and attached families) all go to the Curry Club every Mother's Day. We've been doing that for several years now. We usually end up back at our house afterward, but it's always one big gathering. It's one holiday that we don't split up.

As much as its my day too, I split them with our moms.
I am going to city with my mom, sis and our girls to American Girl for a brunch and will see my MIL that nite.

Done.

Just makes it easier, on all.

Last year we saw our Moms the day before and went to a Mets game

This year we will be spending Saturday with my Mom, all of her kids and grandkids at a BBQ

Mothers day will be just me & DD as DH works weekends and dinner with MIL

Last year we went to breakfast with DH mom and then went to my mom's- she had my extended family come over. My 5 yr old cousin outted me last year on Mother's day when she asked when the baby was coming out of my belly...I was waiting to tell everyone until my 12 week appt...BUT after everyone looked at her strangely..she pointed to my belly and said "the baby is in your belly, right?!?" I guess some kids can sense things...
Sorry for the digression...But this year my MIL went to the bahamas so she wont be home and we're spending the day with my mom.

I spend the day with my mom.


MIL is not my mom and my dh is working.

Good question. This is my first mothers day. Usually I spend the day with my Mom and DH's spends it with his. My MIL lives in NJ so I think we're going to see her on Saturday and Sunday I guess we'll see my Mom but I was hoping he was going to suprise me with something planned. He hasn't mentioned anything yet so I'm sure we'll go over my parents house at some point on Sunday.

Last year (my first) I made brunch for my mom, MIL and SIL (her DD lives in another state). This year my mom is going to a Broadway show with my sister. I have no idea what's going on with MIL & SIL, and DH hasn't said a word.

I am sure whatever it is...*I* will not be happy.....
I cooked last year and had an open house, but refuse to do it this year, and no one's coming up with anything better, and DH isn't offering any options.....

This is my 1st Mother's Day- I told DH we would invite everyone up here.

We are having my mom and dad, his parents and brother, his grandmother, his aunt and cousin and possibly a firend of his grandmother's who would be alone otherwise.

We are planning to have burgers, hot dogs, and chicken on the bbq and salads/ sides as a buffet. DH will do most of the cookiing with FIL prob helping. Hopefully I will be able to enjoy having family around with my little girl.
