Do you do end of year "gifts" for classmates from your child?

I started this is Pre-k majority of people did it and I thought it was cute. it was never anything big either just snacks (Like Swedish fish and gold fish) or dollar store stuff. I think last year i did jump ropes, one year i did bubbles.

Thinking of not doing it anymore esp for my DD since she is in second grade. I will probably do my son since he is in K and he is actually switching schools next year.

just wonder what the majority does.

Never heard of anyone doing that. DC combined have been through 19 grades, and I've never seen or heard of any classmates or other classes doing it.

Re: End of year "gifts" for classmates?

Nope, but my son has received a little something from other classmates for end of year. Bottle of bubbles when they were little or those plastic sunglasses.

When my boys were younger I'd read a book on or around their birthday to the class that pertains to summer break or the beach (both boys have summer bdays). After I read I gave out beach balls I got online from Oriental Trading. Only did it for their birthday for the class, but it was cute and cheap. The teacher let them blow them up and go around the class to sign them. My son is in 4th grade now so I am not going in this year to read.

It's cute if you want to. She's still young.

Honestly the last thing we need is dollar store stuff. It's just more stuff to eventually get rid of.

Yes, this is a thing. Happened last year at DD’s day care. I gave nothing because I didn’t know it was a thing. I did give coloring books at Christmas.

I’m not doing anything again this year. Maybe next year when they graduate to kindergarten.

No no no no no. Please do not send any crap home!!!!! We have enough of our own.
Like pp said, use the $$ to do something special with your child. We have enough pencils, bubbles, stickers, yo-yos to last a lifetime.

They get an ice cream gift certificate from the PTA and a little something from the teacher that I usually throw out. That’s it!

It’s a thing at DC school, but only in PreK grades and K. I never gave anything. In the past I’ve gotten a bubble wand, sand bucket and shovel, blow up beach ball.

No but it has crossed my mind but Im not doing it. I didn't even know I was suppose to send in goody bags for my daughters kindergarten birthday. I can't send in cupcakes or food but spending money on goody bags is allowed.
I honestly would rather a book for them to read instead of bubbles, chalk and pencils. Im done with all the small crap that they insist on keeping and I sit and wonder how many days till I can throw it away without them asking me about it.

We get crap from classmates every holiday, school break, birthday and end of year. I hate it. Usually it just gets tossed. Skip it.
