Eczema Moms
What helps to clear up the rash and relieve itching?
Sasha developed eczema recently-- and I have been moisturizing non stop, and it appeared to be getting better, but is now worse again.
Aside from not being able to stand what it looks like-- I don't want her to be itchy!! I have been using calendula cream, aquaphor and eucerin.

Re: Eczema Moms
Our ped told us to use cortaid. I bought the aveeno brand of it. It really helped. He also told us to use dove white soap when we bathe her.

Re: Eczema Moms
DD #2 has severe eczema. Every night we treat her skin with Locoid (it's a prescription cream) and then lather her in vaseline. She also sleeps with a humidifier every night. Her dermatologist said we could try Cerevae in place of the vaseline if we wanted to.
Prior to taking her to the derm I tried using Aveeno, Mustela and Aquaphor, none of them worked. Turns out her eczema is so severe that only a RX will work and clear it up. Hopefully as she gets older she outgrows it.

Re: Eczema Moms
DS has eczema that comes and goes. We use the oatmeal body wash on him and have a prescription for cortizone cream. On days he has a breakout we skip regular lotion and just use the cream.

Re: Eczema Moms
thanks-- DD just turned 2, and only developed it recently and only on her hands. I made the mistake of giving her a little scratch last night-- and now she knows what that feels like, and wants it all the time-- and was up from 12 to 4 30ish last night!! I gotta get her some relief. It didn't seem to bother her until this week, it just looked bad. Man, I really need winter to be over!

Re: Eczema Moms
My son itches until he bleeds =( Besides the prescription cream the only thing I found that works is: (NOT THE CREAM)
I put it on every night head to toe under his pjs so it does its work while he sleeps...otherwise he has alligator skin!
allergies?? He was recently diagnosed with allergies to oak trees, grass, dogs and cats, peanuts, pistachios, and cashews
I may have to start giving claritin on a daily basis when spring *really hits! =(

Re: Eczema Moms
Aquaphor at night, the vaseline type one. And cortaid, we use the store brand and it works wonders.

Re: Eczema Moms
DS has severe eczema, and the cortizone 10 eczema cream works really well on him. He has a lot of allergies- eggs and peanuts are the most severe. Last spring summer, we had him on claritin daily, we'll probably start that again soon.

Re: Eczema Moms
Funny I was just about to post something similar to this. DS eczema is getting worst. We have the rx cream to put on the hot spots but I wanted something to put all over him. So far Avenno hasn't helped, or Curel. I am going to try the Aquaphore next. He has it bad on his thighs. He is 9 months. So far hasn't been diagnosed with any allergies.

Re: Eczema Moms
We just started using Curel "anti itch defense" last month. It was recommended by our ped and we seriously saw a difference over night. It also has a seal about being approved for eczema

Re: Eczema Moms
Ceravae has worked great for us. I even stopped using it for a while an dhis eczema came back, once I started again-basically gone. I also use desonide if he has any flares and if that doesn't work triamcinelone. Fragrance free laundry detergent and softener
