DTAP Vaccine
Did your doctor or midwife suggest you get the dtap vaccine while pregnant? With my first pregnancy I got it after DS was born in the hospital but now I'm 33 weeks 5 days and my doctor wants me to get it asap. I've read a lot about it but I'm just curious how other mom's felt about it. TIA!

Yes I got it at 34 weeks. Glad I did, I have January babies! I got it to protect them because they can’t get it! I’m assuming you are due February? It’s definitely good to get it because it’s the cold/ flu season!

I'm 33 weeks 6 days! I wasn't offered it with my first two until I delivered in the hospital. I was given literature on it this time a few weeks ago but no one has said anything since. It might not be the best decision but I really hate putting any kind of meds or vaccines in my body while my babies are growing so I don't get anything.

Omg that's too funny- where are you delivering?
I don't take anything and am not comfortable getting shots while being pregnant either but my DR was so insistent on it I feel like I should listen...but I'm super nervous about it.

I did it in November. Delivering Monday but this is my first (and last) winter baby-I've heard of a good amount of cases and people in general are sick so might be that making drs persistent.

I didn't take it. First baby it wasn't recommended until after delivery. For two and three the recommendation changed but my doctor didn't push it at all and didn't even offer it so I didn't get it. I wasn't thrilled at taking a vaccine that I had just been told a few years prior that I couldn't get while I was pregnant. It's hard to know what the right thing to do is. Normally I say listen to your doctor's recommendation.

I had asked my doctor about getting it when I was PG with my daughter and he said that he was not comfortable giving it to PG women and that he and other colleagues didn't see the benefit yet. I received the DTAP in the hospital after she was born.

I got it as well as every single person that has come into contact with my daughter. Every family member and close friend. Otherwise, they won’t see her so another month or so.

Thought of this post today when I got a notice that there's a case of pertussis in dd's school right now.
I got it while pregnant with dd2 and when I asked why the change my ob said cases of pertussis are up due to fewer people vaccinating. I got it and while dd was in the nicu they gave it to dh and any families members that were willing for free.
