Does your DC stay/play in their crib for a while after they wake up in the morning?
Ran into a dad (awesome) at the park today and he said his son, stays in the crib for about an hour or so every morning after he wakes up - playing with his toys, books etc.
I thought this was awesome, since DD Is an early riser so some extra down time in the am would be great.. Right now she gets pretty much cries/ calls for us as soon as she gets up. Im thinking maybe if I place some toys in her crib she will hang out for a while after she wakes up. She used to talk /sing in her crib after she woke up and DH would go to her right away (just to say good morning then it would be on me to do the rest ahaha) so I feel like she may have gotten used to the idea of being tended to right after she wakes up.
Just wondering , if this has/does work for any of you - any tips?
Do you leave toys books in their crib from the nigt before? do you put them in the crib while they are asleep?? My DD is such a restless sleeper I feel like toys or books would be in the way.

I left books in their cribs. DS usually poops right when he wakes up though and then calls for me. When they were younger they would play for 45 min or so.
Now that they are in toddler beds I tell them in the morning they can get out of bed and read books but they won't get out of their bed until I come in.

DS is only 6 months so I don't leave anything in his crib but he does get up in the morning and talk/laugh with himself, roll around the crib, etc. He'll do this for about 30 minutes. Every now and then he will wake up crying but for the most part he hangs out for a bit.

Dd is 11mos and will play from 30-45m and every once in a while an hour after waking up and after her nap.
She has a lamb and two pacis in her crib but I was thinking abt leaving a book or two in there as well. I watch her on the monitor and she just plays w her lamb, and the extra paci and hangs out, it's great!

Yes that's my boys. They are 2 and 1. My oldest stays in his bed and plays with his stuffed animals and will not get out u til I tell him to or he calls me to go pee in the potty. Or he goes potty then goes back into bed for a lil bit. My 1 year old wakes up and just plays I. The crib with his animals I can get an hour out of them In the morning. Thank god for that bc I can sleep a lil longer

Re: Does your DC stay/play in their crib for a while after they wake up in the morning?
My 2yo DD plays for about 30-45 mins in her crib before calling for me. She needs a bunch of stuffed animals in the crib to fall asleep, but I take most out once she's asleep and leave her w/ some to play w/ in the morning. She pretty much stays in the same spot while sleeping so I leave all the most of them at the bottom by her feet.

Dd is 10 months and recently started to play in her crib for a little while before crying for me. I don't leave her for an hour though, maybe 20 min. I only leave her glowing musical seahorse (like a glow worm) in the crib with her bc she's still under a year. But she learned how to squeeze it to make it glow and the music start playing. Sometimes she's so quiet that I hear the music over the monitor and that's how I know she's awake but there are still times she wakes up crying for me right away, I only leave her to play for a little bit when she seems content doing so.

Re: Does your DC stay/play in their crib for a while after they wake up in the morning?
DD sleeps with a couple of baby dolls and has the soothers that are attached to her crib. And one of those light up pillow pet things. But she has zero interest in sitting in her crib and playing with them. She will stand up and call us. And if we don't go in and get her as quickly as she'd like she'll start banging on her crib and throwing everything out of it. I wishs he'd stay in her crib and play by herself for a bit! But she's not big on playing by herself anyway.

DS plays in his crib in the morning or just sits and talks to himself. He's almost 1 but has been doing this for a while. He just has his paci and lovie in there. Sometimes I am so exhausted that I don't even know he's awake and when I look at the monitor he's just hanging out waiting for me. It's the best especially being that I'm pregnant!

My dd does. No toys or anything in the crib. She talks and sings to herself.

Dd is 6 months and unless she wakes up hungry she will play for 45 mins. She doesn't have toys in with her but she entertains herself by rolling and playing with her feet

My older dd was great about playing in her crib now bed. I would leave a book and her stuffed animals on the dresser where she could reach them. My youngest wakes up and starts screaming. She won't entertain herself at all.

Re: Does your DC stay/play in their crib for a while after they wake up in the morning?
DD used to do this. She could hang out there for a good while before we would come to get her. She would just play with her lovey or just hang out. DS on the otherhand will hang out for a bit although he will sometimes bang on the wall to let us know he's waiting , but I do usually have time to get dressed and ready before I have to go in.

No way! The second she wakes up its the whiny voice calling, "mom, mom, mom, mom". She'll throw in the occasional "daddy" if I'm not fast enough.

My DS will be 14 months on Friday and still wakes up crying for us to get him out. That is, if he sleeps through the night, that's right he STILL gets up on the middle of the night

DS is 6 months and will entertain himself anywhere from 30-60 minutes before starting to cry. We don't keep anything in the crib because he's a madman when he sleeps, but we do have a soother attached to the side of his crib with a little button on the front. He turns it on for himself in the morning and it keeps him entertained! That might be an option for you. Before he was pulling himself up, he would turn it on with his feet. Now we've dropped the bed, but he can stand up and get it. Good luck!
