Does everyone stay in the district they get hired for?

Does everyone stay in the district they get hired for?
Not including being promoted to administration of some sort, but generally once you are in a district does everyone stay there?
My district is 40 miles from my house, I'm not complaining because I am happy I got a job that didn't involve going to queens.
Now my DH and I have tossed around moving a little further east evenutally to ease my commute, but then we have also said we would like to stay where we are.
I can't imagine myself doing the commute every day for the next 30 years. So is it abnormal to look for another job closer to home down the road? Is it in my best interest to do it before I am tentured or after? Do districts look down on this?
I know I am getting ahead of myself but I am curious to see what others have experienced.

I was in a district and left after 4 years (with tenure) to go to a better district. It was closer to my friends and family and the pay was much better.

Did the new district give you the 4 years?

I have not done this, but there are several people I know who have done somethnig similar. It is the school's decision how many years to give you. If you are tenured and get another job in the same tenure area, you are eligible after two years.
In the cases I know, the people have been given at least *some* of their years credited and all have been granted tenure after two years.
(I know you are trying not to get ahead of yourself, but give this new gig a chance, see how it all works out, and take each year as it comes!)

i've been in 3 districts already! my current one gave me some years, but not all do. it's far from my house, so we have to decide eventually if we will move or if i will switch again
