Re: does anyone pay out of pocket for health insurance?

I have a family plan through my company and they pay for me only. I then pay $692 out of pocket a month for DH, DD, DS and my stepson. From what I hear that is rather cheap too. Is there anyway you can look into getting it through your company, just change your plan to a family plan and pay the difference to them ?

Re: does anyone pay out of pocket for health insurance?

I pay pre-tax through a family plan at work.

It's $357.00 a WEEK and I work IN health care at a FOR PROFIT.

It's revolting.

DH is self-employed so it is what it is.

We would not be able to afford health insurance otherwise.

I am hoping once DS is in school, to move to a job at a hospital or some place unionized where they pick up most of the cost of family care.

DH is self-employed and I am a SAHM. We pay $450 a month for Empire Traditional Hospital Plan. It covers all of DS's well-visits and any hospital visit (in patient or er, etc) It doesnt cover any sick visits (those you must pay out of pocket). This was the only affordable plan we could find. Re: does anyone pay out of pocket for health insurance?

UP until this month i was paying for my coverage out of pocket and DS coverage through CHIPS (childrens health of PA); I found an insurance agent that sold policies and was using an Aetna plant that cost $160 a month for me. It was lowered to $132 after I appealed their prexisting condition of allergies they supposedly diagnosed me with. I dont have allergies.

Its a high deductible plan and good for people who are relatively healthy and usually go for checkups here and there.

You should try this link and see if you are eligible for any of the state programs. There is a cost but it might be lower than what you are paying now.

My husband's company offers plans through GHI and Oxford. However, they do not contribute anything. We pay the full premium. Let's just say we chose GHI, because we saved a little by not going with Oxford, which was $518 per week. Yes, per week! Although, GHI's cost wasn't much better for a lot less coverage. What can you do??

Re: does anyone pay out of pocket for health insurance?

My old ins was for small businesses. We have a 4 person operation but I was the only one getting insurance. It was 2,000 a month for Empire bcbs for myself, my dh and 2kids. It was expensive but with 2 kids and my health we had to have insurance. I am lucky my dh got a new job that has good ins for a lot less then we were paying.

We did independent insurance for $1600/month for the 3 of us.

Once I was covered with my company, it was $750/month to add DH and DC only my plan.

My mom pays about about $460 per month for United Health Care liberty. The plan is just for her. She is self-employed. It's a great plan.
