does anyone have DVC club points?

A friend of mine bought DVC points from someone and did disney on a much smaller price-point than it would've been if she booked directly through WDW... anyone done this before, or is anyone on here looking to sell points they currently own?

If you don't find anyone on here that wants to sell points check out Davids at dvcrequest.com. I bought points from them in feb. You cannot cancel when you buy points.

I don’t have any points to rent this year but in the past I have used David’s to rent them out. Just be aware that you cannot cancel or change the reservation in any way and that you must pay in full at purchase.

look at David DVC Rental store... you can put in when you want to go and they'll see if they have anybody thats renting out points for those times/ resort. like somebody else said- the downside is that you have to pay it all upfront (booking through disney is a $200 deposit and you can make payments...) ** I've never actually done it, but i just spend a lot of time on disney facebook groups with people who have HAHA

The deposit goes towards your total after they find you points and if they dont they refund you. I went feb break and they found me points.

February break 2020 or 2021? If you're looking for 2020, you may not be able to find anything or if you do it will likely be a "confirmed reservation."

There are booking windows for DVC members. If you want February 2021, put in your request now. DVC members can book their "home" resorts 11 months out - and for the more popular weeks (February break, Christmas week, etc.) it's a necessity to have that booking advantage.

2021- I plan to start on everything in March of 2020 to hopefully snag a good deal

so you all used david's I was looking at DVCrentalstore.com and the woman from that site was really good with emailing me back to answer some questions about what they do.

When I emailed David's, they wouldn't answer my questions. David's was kind of like "we won't respond to you at all unless you fill out this lengthy form"

as an owner, I will not use DVCrentalstore.

For the behind the scenes stuff that is required when renting points through them for the owner, I don't like it. I need to give them access to my DVC profile in order make reservations, etc. Effectively I need to add them as an "associate member" on my DVC account - it's not happening - even though they pay owners a little more than Davids.

So would you say more owners opt to use David's? I obviously want to go through whichever is more popular, since it's gonna be harder for me to snag a reservation over president's week

I have used David's 5X already, actually going this May.

IMO, it's the only way to go! We get to stay in a deluxe resort for a fraction of the price going through Disney direct.

The deposit you leave once you will out the reservation request will go towards your balance if you book and if you don't book it gets refunded.

David's is super easy to deal with, never had any issues.

So what's the catch with David's?

Is the only downside that you can't cancel once you book?

I don't understand why more people wouldn't use this service to go to Disney.

With David's you are not booking through Disney. You are using a middleman to find a DVC owner who has points they are willing to rent out. There are benefits and drawbacks to it.

A renter will definitely get a stay at one of the deluxe villas for cheaper than they could through Disney. You have to know what you're giving up though: You can't cancel without losing your money, you don't get daily housekeeping, you're not eligible for any Disney packages (whether ticket packages or things like "free" dining), you don't "own" the reservation so you cannot contact Disney for things like setting up Magical Express to/from the airport or buying one of the dining plans - the owner has to do all of that for you.

Also, you won't be able to book all resorts - only the DVC resorts (so no moderates like Port Orleans or values like the Pops).

Thanks for the information. When I was looking at the David's website, it does mention that you can book the magical express and dining plans. But it does not specify that is has to go through the owner. It does say that all of your reservation information will be available on the "My Disney Experience" app.

You would let David's know that you need magical express and a meal plan. They will then contact the owner who rented you the points with your flight information or meal plan selection, and the owner will add it to the reservation. You can see your room reservation on the MDE app once Davids gives you the confirmation number from the owner. You can buy your tickets, make your own dining and fast pass reservations through the app as usual, but you will not be able to change anything with the room reservation or anything "connected" to the room. DVC members do not go through the central reservations system to book anything (we go through member services) and member services won't talk to you unless you are an owner.

Thank you. Yes the downside is you have to pay in full once the reservation is secured (You can buy Insurance). I never buy the meal plan so for us a package isn't the best option. Once David's secures your reservation and you get a confirm #, you can make all your plans on MDE (ADR's, FP's 60 days out. I just email David's once I have my flight info and they set up the Magical Express for me. You never speak to the owner, it's all through David's. You can make a room request as well, David's will contact the owner.

does anyone have DVC club points?

I've booked through David's and the DVC Rental Store twice. Both are good.
I tried Davi'ds 3 years ago and they were unable to locate points to rent and I pulled the plug after a month of waiting. DVC rental store was able to book quickly.
2 years ago it was the opposite, David's booked quickly.
This trip DVC rental store was able to book quickly.

We've stayed at saratoga springs resort, AKL, and this year we're staying at Old Key West. all 2br units.
It has worked well since we've been going with my parents and we need the space between them and the kids.
the downside as I see it is that the flexibility of booking is much less, you're dependant on DVC availability, combined with member point available to rent. you can't change things and you're limited to room types. For instance generally studios and 1 brs only have 1 bed in them and a pull out, where a traditional hotel room would have a 2 queen bed configuration.

If we go just our family, we might try to do a standard hotel at some point depending on how pricing works out.

just as a point, read the insurance part carefully. we considered it as part of our most recent trip (DVC Rental Store) and were not impressed with the refundability. you only get a lot back if you cancel far in advance.

I used to ask myself that question because we had a great experience when we did it a few years ago. We paid a little less than we would have for a moderate!

Since then I've tried 2 more times to book and they didn't have what I wanted 4-5 months out. I think more people don't go that route because of lack of availability in the time frame most people book. You really have to know what you want almost a year in advance unless you are ok with OKW or Saratoga Springs which don't have the same allure of most of the other properties. The combination of having to book so far out and the inability to get a refund make it less viable for many people. You can get travel insurance but that is still just for illness and not "I changed my mind." And we book pretty far in advance (my July trip was booked over a month ago) but a year is pushing it. So much can change in that time.

It's too bad because if you could book with less notice I would do it all the time. I loved every minute of my trip to BWV with our balcony views and 7 minute walk to Epcot for less than the price of POFQ.
