wear it.

A "mature" former boss of mine who was a very chic dresser and wore whatever she liked with very bright colors to the office (while i was in typical nyc black and grey every f day) said something to me that stuck with me since:

"THERE ARE NO RULES JUST WEAR WHAT YOU LIKE"

love that and it has guided me sinceChat Icon

i love this.

i, too, wear almost nothing but black, gray, or brown... although my favorite color is red.
i have been working hard to bring more color into the clothes i wear.

go for it!! just remember there are no rules so enjoy everything especially your fave color!Chat Icon

I think the red is a no-no for weddings because in some cultures the bride wears red. It's not about stealing attention away from the bride. Similar to how we wouldn't wear white to a wedding. I think the red is perfectly fine to wear for a birthday dinner. That's a very pretty dress Chat Icon

I think it's mostly an American rule though, possibly brought here by Eastern European immigrants... but yes, in most asian cultures red is reserved for a bride.

BUT did y'all know what wearing red to a wedding is perceived as at a southern wedding here in USA? Again, this is something i found while googling answers to my initial question....

So, as per many google sources, wearing red to a southern weddin' means you slept with the groom! Chat Icon Chat Icon

I guess if you feel the need to announce that bit of info to the word, this is a very efficient way of informing everyone at once! Chat Icon

Chat Icon wow, that's good to know! Yikes, why would anyone want to make that known? Ugh imagine the drama that could cause if someone didn't know the meaning and just decided to wear red. Chat Icon
