i agree that she really did nothing for society, and was, overall,pretty useless. But, i don't see why her skin color (whether it be white or any other color) would play a role in any of this.

I don't see how her ethnicity has anything to do with the coverage. The media is so saturated with celebs (look at this weekend alone) that most celebs are not really "famous" for anything anymore. Just what the media does to highlight them.

If she was a minority that married a billionaire, had a huge legal fight with his estate & repeatedly sought attention from the press, yes.

Rags to riches is always an interesting story.

If she stayed married to her first husband - a poor guy, no.

If she took the settlement in the court case and quietly lived in the Bahamas, no one would care.

I don't think it has anything to do with her not being a minority.

I think it has everything to do with the fact that her son died the same weekend she gives birth to a little girl and then she is dead.

And of course, no one knows who the father is.

Once they determine that, she will be a distant memory - but she left behind a mess and that is why there is so much media coverage, IMHO.

Anna Nicole became famous because of her ridiculous marriage to a corpse ... and the 15 years of circus that surrounded her following the inheritance and lawsuits ... Black, White, Purple, everyone loves a circus.
And that is why she is getting so much coverage.

While I dont think race is an issue in this situation, I would love to hear what was said on the radio and why race was even brought up.

I bet if Anna was a minority, there would be people wondering if she is getting all the media attention because she WAS a minority.

Shes getting all the attention because shes a nutso. Her life has been in the center of the media her whole life. Tabloid publishing companies are in their glory right now.

The only thing I CAN think of is that this is tabloid news. It piques people's interest and I think it would regardless of the race(s) of the people involved.

Perhaps what should be more troublesome to people on radio is the fact that there are more pressing issues that are newsworthy and this story seems to have dominated news coverage for almost 2 weeks.

I think the fact that she was (a) a celebrity and (b) her son just died under suspicious circumstances (c) right after she gave birth is why this is turning into such a circus. But I do think race plays into it.

I don't think she would have been a celebrity if she was a minority, so she woudl have have gotten so much media attention in the first place when her husband died.

Before she was married, she was a Playboy Playmate, then Playmate of the Year, then the Guess Girl. I don't think she woudl have gotten all that if she was a minority. Part of her appeal was the Blonde Hair, Marilyn Monroe/Jayne Masfield look. Not that I am such an expert, but how many minorities are playmates of the year? How many supermodels are minorities? How many minorities hold up whole ad campaigns like she did with Guess? The reality of the situation is America values the blond hair/blue eye version of beauty. Only now is that starting to change.

Now I think if she wasn't already a "name" when she got married, she would fade to obliovion. I mean how many golddiggers marry old men for their money? How many estate issues are there after they die? Tons!! But how many do we hear about- none because the golddiggers aren't famous.

Thus, if she wasn't a name, she wouldn't have had such media coverage once her husband died, her own E! show, etc... and thus, when her son died, when she gave birth and when she died, it wouldn't the circus that it is now.
