Re: Do you still have a landline in your home?

No.

The minute I hooked one up in my home I received nothing but telemarketing calls. None of my friends or family called me on it because they weren't used to it so we cancelled.

I have been landline free for almost 2 years and no problems.

Yep! Add in the guy who had the number before me must've never ever paid a bill and we get all his collections calls.

We're thinking about getting rid of ours bc of telemarketers and family and friends call us on our cells anyway. But others are advising against it bc in case of emergency when you dial 911 you're easier to locate, especially with having a child. My issue with this is that we have digital phone so if the service goes down, we have no phone anyway, so whats the point.

Yes we do.
I'm not a fan of talking on my cell phone when I am at home.
I find it to be worse reception and less comfy to hold

We only keep it because our alarm system is hooked up through it.

Re: Do you still have a landline in your home?

I didn't for a while but the cell phone reception where I live is horrible! I was pretty much forced to get a land line. My Mom sleeps much better now knowing she can reach me in case of anything. Chat Icon

Agree. Plus cell reception can be a little spotty in certain areas of my apt. I prefer a land line for talking in my home.

Re: Do you still have a landline in your home?

Yeah, but it's like $5 a month through Time Warner. I called to cancel it a year ago and they offered to keep it on there for $5 a month and gave me a few free months of Starz so I took it. lol.

Re: Do you still have a landline in your home?

Yes. Horrible reception in the house. The house is pretty big, so I would need to carry the cell on my person all the time to get calls, so that's a big negative.
I have a Panasonic phone system that I can block callers that I don't want to deal with. If a number calls 2x without ever leaving a message (or if they leave a telemarketer message), they get blocked, and I never have to hear from them again.
I have the bare minimum cell plan, so it would cost quite a bit more money to drop my landline actually. I would need to upgrade the plan to accommodate the additional time that I would have used the landline for.

At this point in time, there are no positives for dropping the land line.

Yes, I just don't want to rely on my cell.

My cell isn't all that comfortable to hold for long conversations either.

YES- but only because my alarm's central station is hooked up to it!! If it wasnt for the alram, I'd have gotten rid of it forever ago!
