Do we think city schools will be closed tomorrow?
They are saying the worst of it will be 5-midnight tonight with the leftovers tomorrow. I know a lot of LI schools are closed for tomorrow - do we think city schools will be the same? MTA likely won't be back up and running for the morning commute I imagine...
Thoughts?

I would think so - i imagine some severe damage to the subways with the sea water
and lots of clean up. they'll want to keep as many people off the streets while they try to clear things up

Idk, but I hope they are open! Honestly, I easily could have gone to work and dropped my kids to school at 8 am and picked them up at 3 before the worst is here, but that is because we don't take public transport, work/school is very near to us. I know teachers have to use mass transit.
I think if they had to pick a day tomorrow should have been it.

I hope it'll be closed. I take the lirr in and I doubt that will be running yet so I'll have to take a day if school isnt cancelled.

I would think they will be closed.
Although there are many things I dislike about Bloomberg and how he runs our city, he has closed schools more than any other mayor (at least in my lifetime as I was a student and an employee of the DOE). He usually makes the right call in this regard.

I think unless they allow people back to their homes, schools will be closed. Some schools are used as shelters right now.

I am in NJ and our schools are closed for both today and tomorrow. I think that they will close schools for tomorrow as the brunt of the storm will continue until tomorrow morning. Depending upon storm damage I can see some areas closing their schools for Wednesday as well.

My kids go to private school in queens and they told us yesterday we will be closed today and tomorrow. i doubt there will be school on halloween

I would have to think yes because of potential wide spread damage, evacuations, and the likelihood that transport will not completely be back online...but nothing shocks me
