every kid has their moments (some certainly worse than others) but I think it's horrible to make a mom struggling with something feel worse by acting like your kid is perfect when they aren't

Just sayin

You actually took the time to dig up an old post? That's so pathetic and
Chat Icon Chat Icon. Get a life.

I never said she was perfect, she's had a moment here and there (like ALL kids) but on the whole, NO, she was not one to throw a tantrum, especially on a regular basis. It was a blue moon type of thing with her. I can count on one hand how many times she had a fit.

And nobody is trying to make anyone feel bad, she asked a question and I answered...........as did many others who also said their child was not a tantrum thrower.

Get over yourself, pathetic. Chat Icon

yes, yes it's me that pathetic with no life. You're right. As always.

And ftr, it took me 3.5 seconds to search for that post because I remembered the story and laughed when I read your first post in this thread. It's just your MO. I'm just tired of it. That's all. I could search for more examples, but I won't because I DO have a life and can't be bothered wasting any more time on this.

My 9m old threw a tantrum today because I wouldn't let her take the neosporin to school with her. You'd have thought I beat her. Shes going to be a handful.

I'm sorry, but I had the same reaction. Who knew neosporin was so important? Too funny, and a good story to tell one day when she has children of her own. Chat Icon

I will say with TOTAL confidence, there is not a single child on this planet who has not at one point or another thrown a tantrum. If a parent says otherwise, I say BULL POOP! Chat Icon

Re: Do any of you have a kid (2-3 yrs old) who NEVER throws tantrums?

My son has had so many tantrums in his short existence of 4 yrs. We go for weeks without anything..angel, sweet kid. and then there are days where its like "who are you and where i s my kid?"

my MIL looooves to tell me that DH was NEVER like this...EVER. He is the 2nd coming of Christ. It annoys the ever loving shit out of me that she always insists DS tantrums come from my side of the family (bc we are sicilian and my brother was a hot head as a kid with tantrums).
Meanwhile, if anyone has temper..its my MIL. go figure that ...

so with all that..YOU are not alone. Just ignore and walk away and they will be fine in a few minutes.

I can honestly say that my DD 7 has never had a tantrum. Is she perfect? Not at all and she has other flaws and ways of misbehaving but tantrums have never been part of it. DS 4 had a few tantrums when he was about 2 but never while we were out and they usually involved having to eat green beans Chat Icon

I don't care if people think I'm lying or whatever but my kids have never thrown themselves on the floor or kicked and screamed and they have always behaved in public. There is about 99 other things they do to drive me crazy but that ain't one Chat Icon

I don't get it - why? Everyone's personality is different and tantrums aren't always part of a kids personality. As I said below my DD has never had a tantrum, ever. However, she back talks, rolls her eyes, is dramatic and will probably make my life hell as a teenager judging by her personality. But tantrums, nope.

As for the other part of the day... YES! I have seen many tantrums. Chat Icon
At 4 though DS1 has gotten better.
DS2 is 2 years old. He was really good till about 18 months when he was walking. He was a late walker and Oh My... when he started walking that was it. He is stubborn. The good part is he does get out of the tantrums fast. My 4 yr old is much more sensitive.

Honestly my DD never ever did until this year and I recently posted that since starting K, I have never seen her do anything like this. Has she ever said no to me or cried? Sure, but up until his year she has never ever thrown an actual tantrum ever. That's not bull. Some children do not throw tantrums.

Re: Do any of you have a kid (2-3 yrs old) who NEVER throws tantrums?

I have really lucked out and my kids act like angels in public. Constantly being told how well behaved they are. My oldest has only had 3 tantrums in public(all when she was 3 and under) and my other two never have. It's so odd to me because at home they can be little monstersChat Icon not a day goes by at home where at least 1(if not all 3) throw tantrums. My almost 3 year old has a few everyday. I don't get why they put on such an act in public. I always giggle when someone compliments how well behaved they are. They are well behaved in front of family almost every time too. I think they all embarrass easily so they are too shy to act crazy in front of people.

To the OP, my DS is a challenging kid. He knows how to push buttons, he can be manipulative, he whines, complains, says hurtful things, etc. He can also be the sweetest boy. I love him with all my heart. My mom is also one to act as if she has never seen this behavior and can't believe it. I always tell her, you had two girls! She totally doesn't get little boy behavior. I try to focus on the sweet side of him and ignore her. And I drink. A lot! Chat Icon Chat Icon

I think every kid has tantrums sometimes but there are certainly some kids who have more than others . My oldest is more mellow and hardly ever has one . My youngest came into this world feisty and that hasn't changed. She has multiple tantrums everyday. She has the strongest will I've ever seen next to me Chat Icon my mom says I was the exact same way and thought she would lose her mind when I was small. I guess I'm just getting pay back!

Chat Icon this sounds like my dd! She's normally a very happy toddler, but when I have to take something away from her that she shouldn't have or tell her no for any reason, she cries so hard, stomps her feet and usually falls to the floor. And it's always for such silly things too, like taking her toothbrush away to rinse it. You'd have thought I just killed the dog in front of her the ways she reacts. But usually I can get her to stop by diverting her attention to something else. Not sure how long that will work for. I'm assuming as she gets older she'll get more stubborn before she passes this stage.

Re: Do any of you have a kid (2-3 yrs old) who NEVER throws tantrums?

I get the same thing from my mother. "Idk where your kids come from, you and your brothers never acted like your kids do"
Did you drug us? Tie us down and tape our mouths shut? I'm pretty positive we started shit from time to time Chat Icon

My almost 4yr old yesterday threw the mother of all tantrums. She asked for a napkin. I handed her 2 by mistake. She snapped at me and goes "I SAID A NAPKIN. ONE NAPKIN NOT 2!!!
That was it. On the floor kicking and screaming for about 10min.
LUNATIC! Lol

Both my children throw tantrums, but my younger one is terrible. It's non-stop and he's goes nuts. It's more than I can handle honestly.

The older one is more easy going. He does have strong opinions now at 4, but usually he can be reasoned with or distracted. Not the case with the little one.

Do any of you have a kid (2-3 yrs old) who NEVER throws tantrums?

DD is famous on our block for her tantrums : ). I will say that my nephew, who is 7 now, has never had a full blown tantrum. He might have cried and whined a bit but never a complete on the ground kicking tantrum.

My parents also say that my sister and I never had tantrums but I think the way our parents parented was a lot different than we do today. I remember from a really early age, if my father gave us that look to run the other way. Kids today hardly have that fear and constantly test boundaries, well at least mine does anyway lol.

Do any of you have a kid (2-3 yrs old) who NEVER throws tantrums?

All kids throw tantrums, some kids bang their heads on walls, some kids just cry & scream. Some kids do it a lot, some only once in a while. Depends on the child. My DC doesn't really throw tantrums, she pretty much knows her limits at this point and wants to avoid time out. She went through a phase and I stuck to my guns, even if it meant time out every 5 minutes. Her tantrums consisted of throwing things, or screaming at the top of her lungs.
This doesn't mean every kid who goes to time out is going to change their behavior, or I have an angel, she is who she is though, and if I threaten time out she stops what she is doing 9 times out of 10.
