It's brutally hot in Florida in the summer...worse then here imo. My mother lives near Tampa and makes sure she has all her errands and running around done in the morning so she doesn't have to deal with the heat.

We went in May a few years ago and I thought that was brutal. You wouldn't catch me there in July standing in those long lines. Sorry but it's going to be hot, hot, hot.

What about a Disney cruise? I am thinking it would be cooler on the water? I don't know.

yup! we just went this year in mid-may, and it was bordering on being brutally hot. you definitely wouldnt catch me there in the summer with the heat and the crowds that are there because all the kids are out of school. i would definitely wait and go in the fall or something...

Re: Disney in July - weather question

We went in July, and didn't think it was too bad. But we didn't have kids w/us. We made sit down reservations for lunch so we could eat in ac. We did play mini golf one day and the heat that day was horrendous, I think it's the artificial turf.

ETA: crowds weren't bad, we got fast passes and did all the rides we wanted too. If you check out disboards.com, people give tips on how to manage the summer. If you stay on site, you could go back to your hotel during the noonday sun for pool time and ac nap time. Then return to the parks for dinner.

We went one Julya and had terrible rain. Bring ponchos. In AUgust, another year, it was hot but definitely doable. Not much worse than here in my opinion.

Re: Disney in July - weather question

It is extremely HOT and HUMID in July. I was there the second week of July last year and we had to go back to the hotel mid-day to go in the pool. If you are staying on property you could probably do it... just go to the parks early morning, head to the pools in the afternoon and then go back around dinner time.

Would you consider Disneyland in California?
We just went there and the weather was great and Cali has great weather all year round. Never too hot.

I would definitely be prepared for big crowds in the summer though.

Re: Disney in July - weather question

I am one of six kids, we ONLY ever went in July/August because it was so cheap...it IS very hot and humid....BUT, there is little, if ANY lines. We never waited for anything.

Last time we went in September of 2008 , labor day weekend. It was AMAZING. Free dining, no waiting, and it was awesome to go to Blizzard Beach and the other water parks (or pool at the hotel) to cool off before heading back out to the parks at night. If you can handle the heat and park hop...I would do it....

Re: Disney in July - weather question

Right now, it's been in the 90s everyday. Its just going to get hotter/more humid.

I've gone to Disney in August and its brutal. Don't think i'll do it again.

If you do, just bring lots and lots of water.

We are going the last week in June, not my choice but when it is doable for all of my family. We are staying at the contemporary so that we cabn go to park in am and then back to hotel to use the pool and then back again to the park for the evening. Hoping to just make the best of it!

DH and I went last August. The day we landed it was 107!! The rest of the week felt positively chilly at 102.

It was brutal - even walking around Epcot at 7 pm the sun was scorching!

Re: Disney in July - weather question

We just came back last week and are actually going to go again the first week in August.

It is HOT, very HOT. We used the pools every afternoon. We usually have breakfast at the park, do the rides, have lunch then head to the pools for the rest of the day. Then we go out for dinner.

We own at the disney vacation club so we go down often. We don't need to see everything every time we go because we go so often so we don't mind spending half the time at the pools. My suggestion is that if you don't go often or if its your first time pick a different month, it's way to hot to spend an entire day at the parks but if you plan to go down a few times and will enjoy pool time than go for it.

Did you look into cruises out of NY for the summer. You can get some good deals now and less travel time : ).

IMO summers there are brutal. It was 90-92 in mid May and the same end of Sept beginning of Oct with high humidity. I could only imagine how miserable it must be in July. But if it is the only time you can go you just deal with it - lots of pool time, mister, hand fans, etc.

I don't think you could pay me to go there in July! Chat Icon We just went a few weeks ago (mid May) and lucked out with a cool front and it was in the low 80's with little humidity. It was still hot. I can't even imagine what July would be like but I also hate the heat and humidity!
