Dental Night Guard

I've noticed that at night I catch myself clenching my teeth and my molars hurt somewhat in the morning. I had to go to my dentist to get an impression for a dental implant crown so while they did that, I asked them how much a night guard would be, (since they were already taking an impression of my teeth for the crown), and they wanted $625 for the guard Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon and would not budge on price despite the fact that I was already paying a lot of money for the crown...

I see on Amazon they sell night guards for cheap but was wondering if they are effective. Anyone on here use one?

Re: Dental Night Guard

I buy the drugstore ones and they are fine for me.
I clench so bad that I actually have tons of small chips on my back teeth.
I even had a molar crack into the root and had to have it extracted and i swear it was from night clenching.

I buy the kind that you boil in hot water and then mold to your teeth and let it set that way.

Even like the CVS brand or Target brand worked great.

It takes getting used to wearing it though- at first you drool a lot Chat Icon but in a few nights it's second nature and I almost don't feel right without it.

I got one from my dentist and it was $250. I can't believe they would charge you $625! Highway robbery!

I agree about the drooling - it takes a while to get used to.

Yes it is insane. They are already charging me 1700 for a crown so I'd figure they'd throw me a bone!
