Delayed rash from Amoxicillan?
Dd broke out in hives on her forearms about 8 days after taking amox last month. We didn't make the connection since it was a week after she started, and also tried kale for the first time that same night. I called my nurses hotline and they said it was prob the kale.
Well after another double ear infection :( she's on them again, and last night she had the same rash.
I'm not going to give it to her today, and am going to call the doctor. Has anyone else had this? Also she has a terrible diaper rash

Re: Delayed rash from Amoxicillan?
It's common to have a delayed reaction to amoxicillin. DS got a rash all over his chest, stomach and back 5-7 days after starting amoxicillin. He didn't have hives and it wasn't itchy. It's considered a non-allergic reaction. However, because he had a reaction, the reaction could be worse the more he's exposed to amoxicillin. As a precaution, he's now considered to be allergic to that and penicillin.

Re: Delayed rash from Amoxicillan?
DS got a really bad rash from amoxicillan 7 days after taking it.
It was so bad that the doctor said this is what they take pictures of and put in medical textbooks.

Re: Delayed rash from Amoxicillan?
Thanks ladies! We went back to PEd and sure enough she thinks a reaction. So, no more Amoxicillan until after her next bloodwork.
