Curbside pickup (retail)

I’m curious how this will work when the physical store isn’t open. Take a place like TANGER for example. You have store like Nike, H&M for example and then all of the smaller stores too. I guess they will have one or 2 employees come in and hope some people order something. I just couldn’t imagine doing curbside pickup for clothes. I need to try on. Lots of things to work out logistically. I can see it working for places target, Walmart, petco etc. when it come to clothes though if I’m looking online and ordering online,I’d rather just have it shipped at that point than drive on out to the store to pick it up. I just don’t see it work. I speculate many store will just bypass this and wait for the full reopening...

Re: Curbside pickup (retail)

Why on earth would I do this when I can just have the damn things shipped like I am doing now?
Go to Kohls.com, Nike.com, etc.
More size selections as well

And my other question is- why couldn't we have been doing this all along?
I can do curbside take out food pickup but not this?

Ridiculous

This is what I’m saying. DH is a manger at a store in TANGER. He is thinking they will not reopen this way because it isn’t cost effective. It would cost more paying the employees to be there and run the lights while they stand around hoping someone orders a shirt or whatever. He also says it would take several weeks to get the store ready and swap out the merch to the current season. It’s winter clothing in the store looking exactly like it did in March.

I really question the logic of half this stuff.
Curbside retail.
Please.
Newsflash- Amazon and online shopping have been putting brick and mortar stores out of business for years now.
If this was the 1980s or something I can see people getting excited to be able to shop retail again via this curbside nonsense.
Not in this day and age.

Curbside pickup (retail)

My running store has been curbside and delivery since this started. Dicks sporting goods has been curbside. And even when they get to open I don’t think trying on clothes is allowed. I have been reading other states opening plans to try and plan my runs and they all have no dressing rooms open. I don’t know when the last time I was in a clothing store anyway. I order everything online and just return

Another question I have about clothes shopping in general is, Will we be able to purchase, wash and then try on? I can’t see trying on clothes that others have tried on before washing and drying them myself first.

Best buy near me is doing this. They have several employees in the store. You drive up to the door and they load you up

So how is this phase 1 if stores are already doing it?
So much conflicting rules

I used Staples curbside pick-up today. I couldn't wait for a delivery because my printer broke and I need it to print out a lot of the home school assignments. I can see how in situations like that it's necessary however, Staples now accepts walk ins so I could've just gone in. I can't see myself needing something so badly from J. Crew that I couldn't just order it online.

Only thing I can think of is that they could be considered essential because they sell computers?

Curbside pickup (retail)

There’s stores I would do this for. Shipping has taken forever lately-I just waited 4 weeks for something from the container store, and with curbside I could have it that day. Same
With places like Michaels, etc.

Another question I have about clothes shopping in general is, Will we be able to purchase, wash and then try on? I can’t see trying on clothes that others have tried on before washing and drying them myself first.

So my parents are in FL and in Target they are taking returns keeping them in the back for 4 days and they spray them with something. So if you buy something you can hang it for a few days then try on.

It can only live so long without a human host. So leaving clothes for a few days....especially out in the sun...should be fine. It won't take your life

Re: Curbside pickup (retail)

NJ has had curbside retail this entire time. So it is just the store owner or store manager. Contactless payment and they bring it to your car. Super easy and allows the store to stay open.

i didnt even realize you cant do this now!! Some stores have.

Clearly small companies and business have not been following the rule or haven't realized they have been breaking them!

Re: Curbside pickup (retail)

Come to think of it- I remember seeing a boutique I follow on Facebook- posting pics of items and their price and saying- text us if you want it and we'll bring it to your car- paypal or Venmo the money.

So yeah- some have been innovating this whole time.
