cio nap time question

we did CIO with DD lastnight it was by far the hardest thing ive ever done but it was so worth it she slept 11 hours again its been months. im trying to follow through with nap time. she gave me all the ques, yawning, rubbing eyes nodding off... so i kissed her and put her in her crib shes yelling/crying on an off... how long do i let this go before calling naptime over? lastnight she cried on and off for an hour and 22min. i think i read somewhere as far as naptime goes they should only cry for 30 min. BUT its not consitant crying so how long do i let it go?

Re: cio nap time question

I found CIO with nap time much harder than at night.

It took almost 1 week and a half for CIO with naps and for the first few days he cried for over an hour.

Re: cio nap time question

Yup, CIO for naps was definitely harder, especially once we stopped swaddling. Does she have a lovey? That's what worked for us.

Re: cio nap time question

Healthy Sleep Habits says for a nap to really be a nap it's 40 minutes of sleep. If DS wakes before 40 minutes I let him cry for up to 20-30 minutes to see if he'll fall back asleep, sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn't. Naps were also way harder for me. If she cries for 30 minutes, take her out and try again within the hour if she's showing the tired signs again. If not just wait for the next naptime and try again. The best thing would be to get her outside for some fresh air after a failed nap but it stinks that it's too cold out. Chat Icon If she's been playing for an hour I'd say just call it a nap and try again later.

Re: cio nap time question

I am so glad Abby girl slept last night. Keep up the great work. I put the boys in and close the door and I'll let them cry or they play. I read somewhere that if the baby is over tired then they will usually wake after 30 min. You're doing great Meg.
