Child falling asleep on the floor once you give them a bed?

Last night was the second time Jack fell asleep on the floor in his room. He sleeps right at the door so I can't even open it to get in.

Does this stop or is this normal behavior when transitioning to a bed?

What's the matter, doesn't he like the mattress?? Chat Icon Chat Icon

No advice, but at least he's not leaving the room....that's good!

Yup. C3 did it too. Then stopped.

Right by the door too, I actually would push him a little with the door and put him in bedChat Icon

ohhhh honey buns, do you know my Jack at all???? Chat Icon

He IS leaving the room. He IS nuts! I actually think he just fell asleep on the floor right now for his naptime because I don't hear him opening/closing the door anymore.

I don't really care where he sleeps, as long as he sleeps.

I slept on the bed with him the other night bc he had a nightmare and HOLY, it is soooo comfy (except for the fact that I had 100 stuffed animals all around me!)

Yep! That's what I have to do. Thank god I lost 12lbs otherwise I would never make it in the door Chat Icon

That's my motivation for losing more weight - to be able to squeeze through the door and put Jack back into bedChat Icon

Jordan did this on and off for a LONG time. It did eventually stop. Peyton has done it once or twice too, I usually wait till she is in a deep sleep and then put her in bed. She sleeps with her dooe open and a babygate on it, so she can not block the door.

Let me tell you - keep him in the crib AND in diapers. I have not been this stressed out in ages. I have a zit on my face! The last time I had a zit on my face was when I found out I was pregnant with JackChat Icon

Chat Icon Chat Icon Definitely leave him on the floor, I agree....no sense risking waking him up....hopefully he'll get uncomfy on the floor soon enough and get back to the comfy bed (otherwise it sounds like YOU will be moving into his bed Chat Icon )...glad you like the mattress! Chat Icon

miki did this for about 2 weeks after transitioning...I say let him sleep where he wants to and eventually, he will crawl back into bed

miki used to sleep RIGHT against the door too...I even found her sleeping once on the rocker that was in thereChat Icon

Re: Child falling asleep on the floor once you give them a bed?

Kaydyn started doing this after she had the stomach virus and was afraid to sleep in her bed. As soon as she fell asleep I would go in there and put her in bed...well she would wake up and go back to the floor....so we left her.

Then she started waking up in the middle of the night and FREAKING.

She would either sleep right next to her bed, or right in front of the door so we literally had to push her out of the way with the door.

Eventually she stopped sleeping on the floor.

Kaydyn sometimes falls asleep with her head on the bed, but legs on the floor (she's in a toddler bed)...how is that even comfortable?

Well... I am not going to crash your thread so you can see why EJ makes a lier of me (I will post pics!!!). He did nap this afternoon. Just in the floor of the playroom.

Oh and I found him sleeping on the sofa when I got up in the morning.

Or he sleeps on the table.

Oh... yeah! NO NAP in a bed! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
