check out what 100k buys (outside of NYC area)
I happen to be leaving the area (DH got a job) and its a good thing b/c with NYC housing prices I don't know if we would ever be able to afford a house.
But in the city we are moving to housing is so much cheaper . . .
Check out this house that was recently sold for 99k

UGH - I knew I didn't want to open this. Depresses me to even think out a beautiful home like that for a 1/5 of the price of a decent home on LI!

Its in Sioux City, Iowa . . . I know, I know . . . its not high on most people's lists, but since my DH recently got a job there its where we'll be living for at least a couple of years.
Hopefully we'll find something as good as this one when we go house hunting (this one sold a couple of weeks ago  ) Wish me luck -- we start looking next week!
