Chair floor protectors that actually work?!
Chair leg floor protectors- whatever those things are called - is there something that actually works?!
I'm trying to keep my kitchen chairs from scratching my floor and nothing seems to work. I've gone through a ton of those adhesive felt pads and they're awful. They're always falling off and then I find them everywhere! Out of desperation I bought those silly looking chair leg socks in a color that blends in with my chairs. Those might be even worse than the felt pads! They stay on for a few days and give you a false sense of hope - then before you know it they start slipping off and end up everywhere too! And the constant dragging of the chairs out from under the table burns giant holes right through the socks and your chair is again scraping the floor except now it's wearing an ugly little leg warmer! I'd rather not put a rug under the table because somehow more food ends up under my table than on top of it and it would start looking gross quickly! Plus I prefer to sweep and mop food bits than vaccuum them.
I see Amazon sells a silicone cup looking thing. Before I waste my money, do those work?? Does anything?

So funny and you posted this now because just last night I was watching TV and saw a commercial for these chair floor protectors that looked great. I'm forgetting the name now but instead of just sticking to the bottom of the chair leg like traditional protectors, they actually slipped on like a slipper. They stretch over the chair leg almost Iike a little sock. Lol. Seems like they would stay on much better.
They were red.
I'll see if i can find them for you

Chair floor protectors that actually work?!
We use the adhesive felt pads and haven’t had any issues. But I saw a blogger on Instagram use a felt pad that had a nail/screw attached to it and she pushed into the bottom of each leg.

It's been a years long quest for me! I've tried everything. I think part of the problem is I have 20 X 20 tiles in my kitchen with GROUT that the former owners thought looked great (ugh - I can't wait to re-do my kitchen).
I tried those silicone slip-on things with the felt at the bottom - they worked like the socks did - great for a few days and then zip. I think part of the problem is that they are made for chair legs that don't taper and mine do. Also, the paid and cup have a roundish shape when my chair legs are square. Nothing I do stays permanently - everything gets caught up on the grout lines. If you have a flat floor with no grout, I think the silicone cup things might work for you - they don't look great though - even though they appear clear online - they are definitely noticeable.

I just noticed the ones with the nail attached. I don't know why I never noticed them before. I might try these next. The felt pads wear out after a while so I'll have to keep replacing them, but as long as they stay attached tp the chair that's fine. I hate finding those little felt stickies all over the floor  lol

Sounds like you can feel my pain lol I spend way more time tipping chairs over and attaching things to the legs than any human being was ever meant to  it's funny because I started thinking the same things about the floors and the weight of the chairs, and the shape of the legs too lol you start becoming analytical about it after a while. But the front legs of my chairs taper while the back are thicker square and these things fall off regardless of shape and size, and my kitchen has a similar tile while the dining is smooth hardwood and I have the same problem in both rooms. All these products suck I think.
I haven't tried the silicone ones because at this point I doubt they'll work any better. They do sell both square and round shapes on Amazon if you need a different shape and different sizes. I'll try the ones that look like a thumb tack next because the screeching sound the chairs make scraping against the floor is like nails on chalkboard. I'm ready to throw the chairs away and just get benches you have to shimmy into

I have the silicon things and they work great. Once in a while they fall off but very rarely and you just pop them back on. Well worth it.

I just recently tried the chair socks. They are good. They stretch for larger legs.
I tried the silicone ones but they didn’t stretch so they didn’t fit any of my chairs.
So far they stay on pretty good. I have a runner near one side of my table for my dog to walk on and they get caught on the carpet and do get pulled off. That the only problem so far. The ones that don’t have the runner nearby are fine. I feel safer sliding the chairs around when needed. It seems to have more protection.

We use the adhesive felt pads BUT we used Super Glue to attach them. Since we did that we haven't had any issues with them coming off.

They are the worst and I'm constantly pulling clumps of dust and crap off them and yesterday I thought to myself what am I doing with my life

I hear you!! It's such a little thing that makes me crazy. I just ordered myself some of the ones that you nail in - let's see if those work for me. We are hopefully redoing the kitchen this summer so fingers crossed I won't have to deal with grout much longer.

Yes!!! Just like the felt pads the ugly little socks are better at collecting every bit of dust, dirt, hair, and crumbs than a vacuum! I end up pulling them off and throwing them in a laundry bag into the washer. I had to stop myself and take a step back the other day - is this really what my life has become?? Washing leg warmers for chairs?? there has to be a better way!!! I might have to invent a titanium jumpsuit for chairs

It's not terrible to get them off but to be fair, I make that DH's job.
We have something like 64 chair legs in this house lol. DH will just move out he's not nearly as dedicated as I am to this pointless cause! He'll just tell me "f@ck your floors" but after 87 years together I'm still trying to teach this guy where the hamper is  I can forget about him giving a shit about the floors lol
