Central Air and timing

We are moving in late June and want to put central air in ASAP. My SIL seems to think that we will pay a premium for having it put in during the summer months vs. waiting until the fall/winter.

Do you think that's the case? or will it cost what it costs regardless of when I install?

THANKS!

I agree, you will definitely pay more. We had ours installed in March and every place we talked to said come April through September is their prime time. I would wait if you can.

Thanks!! Do you know what the approximate difference in cost was?

I don't know if I can last a summer being preggo without central air, but I don't want to friviously waste money either.

We had ours installed last November. Most companies we called were operating at a 3 week backlog and that was then, off season.

I would call NOW for estimates. It is there busiest time with installs and service. Good luck.

I agree, I just gave birth and I told DH there was no way I was going to be home this summer with 2 kids in a house with out CAC. We only had window units in the bedrooms and the rest of the house was stifling! It won't be wasted money, IMO, but it can't hurt to call for some estimates and just see what they say.

Thanks for the advice ladies.

We are calling the current owners now to see if they'll allow a guy to come into their home for estimates (we aren't scheduled to close until Late June.)

I hope she let's us!!

Could you let me know what the quotes are that you get. DH and I want to put central AC into our new home--- it has all window units--- and I am wondering what something like that would run! Good luck... Who are you using for estimates? Thanks

I'll be happy to share, however I'm in Westchester so they may not be applicable to you.
