can anyone help? persistent recurring diaper rashes!

i don't know what to do... but recently DD ALWAYS has a diaper rash. i have taken her to the dr. multiple times, we've tried everything. the only thing that has worked is perscription creams but then they don't always do the job and cost 40 dollars a small tube...she gets changed frequently too.
could it be an allergy? just looking to see if anyone has experienced this w/ their DC? and what worked-or what was the culprit?

As soon as I saw this I thought allergy.

Madelyn had diagnosed allergies to cats and dairy at 9 months. She was pretty prone to diaper rashes, but when she was about 15 months, she got recurring back to back rashes. They were so ridiculous that I mentioned it to a friend at work whose daughter goes to the same allergist I take Madelyn to. My friend told me to call the allergist to set up another trial.

It turns out that Madelyn had also developed an allergy to BEEF. We totally cut beef out of her diet and she hasn't had a diaper rash SINCE.

have you tried switching diapers? maybe its an allergy to the brand you are using?
also, do you put cream on with every diaper change? i usually always put some aquaphor on with every diaper change. its the times i dont use it that he gets a rash

My friends daughter had this and had to have the prescription creams too. Finally it was discovered to be an allergy that was causing it. I can't remember what she was allergic too ( I think it was a food or a soap from her bath). My son has had a lot of diaper rashes. He is actually allergic to what ever they put in Pampers diapers and that calmed it for awhile once we switch but now I am wondering if he has the same problem with Huggies.

thank you all SO much for your responses! thought of food allergy too- and was thinking of calling the dr. to check it out. Lord i hope it's not! she hardly eats anything as it is!
i may try another diaper brand first just to see if that makes a difference-we use pampers only.-maybe they are the culprit...
i am so lost about this-i really appreciate the responses so much!

DD suffers from recurring diaper rashes. It sux. She is severly allergic to Pampers....the only diapers she is able to use without a problem is Huggies.

We've taken her to the derm and she basically said DD has very sensitive skin and any diaper is going to irritate her. We use Huggies with Aquaphor or Desitin and that seems to be working for now.

Try switching diapers...Sorry I don't have better advice.
