BTDT Mom's, Did you really wash everything??

My shower was this past weekend and of course my living room looks like a baby store Chat Icon

My question is, did you really wash every piece of clothing?? I do plan on washing the onesie's & bedding and I know that people tell you to wash everything, but coming from an experienced Mom, did you?

Thanks Chat Icon

Re: BTDT Mom's, Did you really wash everything??

I washed all of her clothing up until 3 months and her bedding (not the comforter though)

Now she gets everything as I buy it. No need to wash IMO

Nope, I did not. Blankets, onesie and bibs. That was it.

I did....

but after that, I never washed anything before he wore it! (so even clothes that came once he was born, I didn't wash)

I kept much of it with tags on, because DS didn't wind up being able to fit into much of it (clothes too small, wrong season, etc.), but I washed everything he wore before I put it on him.

Yes I did. I washed every piece of clothing, onesies, burp cloths, wash cloths, bedding, bibs, socks, and on and on and on. Looking back I wish I didn't wash every single outfit because there was a lot of clothes we ended up never needing either because of the season or size and we really should have returned a lot but you obviously can't once you rip the tags off and wash it.

EDIT - After a few months I stopped washing every single thing before my DD wore it. I literally ripped the tags off and thew it on her. Chat Icon

I washed everything. Now that he's 6 months, I still try to wash most things before he wears them, but I don't really sweat it if I don't. Just knowing how sensitive a baby's skin can be, I had to wash everything. You never know how many people touched those things and what they were exposed to. I just figured why take the chance?

I still wash everything at over a year, even socks. I wash all of my own clothes (aside from dresses, suits, etc.) before I wear them. Freaks me out thinking about all the people touching them (i'm just a little OCDChat Icon).

No. I washed sheets, onesies, blankets...think that's it. But I'm also not big into sterilizing everything either. I'm pretty laid back about that kind of stuff.

ETA: I kept the tags on everything until I was sure he was able to wear/fit into it and if it was the right season. If not it got returned.

Re: BTDT Mom's, Did you really wash everything??

I washed everything - I still pretty much wash everything before they wear it and my older ds is almost 2.

I won't wash fancy outfits for fear of destroying before they wear them :)

Re: BTDT Mom's, Did you really wash everything??

Everything that touched him the first 3 months was washed. After that, I like to wash clothes before wearing myself, so his I wash too. (almost everything is made in china and shipped in crates, who knows what it comes in contact on the way here, kwim?)

Sterilized everything that could go in his mouth the first 2 months. After that a quick wipe does the trick.

Re: BTDT Mom's, Did you really wash everything??

I still wash everything new that will touch his skin and he is 9 months. I wouldn't wash it all at once though. Wait until you are ready to use things. I still wait just to make sure i still like things and/or that the size i bought will fit. I wash things in batches.
