breech baby at 32 weeks - will it turn?

The baby was breech for the sono at 29 weeks and today. The stupid technician told me that it might indicate something (whatever that means) but the doctor said there is still time to turn?

I see my regular doctor next week, but do you still think the baby can turn. I've been having a "conversation" with he/she ever since I left the sono.

Check out Spinningbabies.com for some tips on how to encourage the baby to move into the proper position. There is definately still time to turn, but the longer you wait, the harder it may be for the baby to turn due to lack of room!

Absolutely. It may not seem like a long time, but 6-8 weeks left is PLENTY of time for your little one to turn. There are accupuncture methods that are helpful in this, also some yoga moves that can help. Also, try putting headphones down low on your belly, they will move towards the music. And putting cold compresses high up on your belly, they will move away from the cold. I've also heard that shining a flashlight up your hoo-ha can help too. Chat Icon Apparently they are intrigued by the light.

absolutely!!! DS was Frank's Breech at one point, and I wound up with a vaginal birth with no complications. There's still plenty of room in there for baby to turn.Chat Icon

Re: breech baby at 32 weeks - will it turn?

I definitely think the baby can still turn, but from my sisters experience with my 7 week old niece.....she was breached at 34 weeks and little Sarah stayed that way, so she did have to have a c section. then on the other end, I have a friend whose baby was in position the entire time and last minute while in labor, the baby turned a little and they had to do a c section, so, really anything can happen. definitely try some of the exercises to get him or her moving! hope it works for you!

Re: breech baby at 32 weeks - will it turn?

My friends son was breech at around 36 or 37 weeks and turned within the week by himself. So it's very possible.

I think after 32 weeks the chances of it turning start to drop. DD was breech. Everyone gave me "suggestions" on how to help turn her but one time the dr. said it could be she didn't turn because the cord might be too short. After I heard that I let nature take it's course. She stayed breech and I loved it . I loved having her head so high up and seeing it move around all the timeChat Icon

Re: breech baby at 32 weeks - will it turn?

At 32 weeks, my Dr told me, baby had a 98% chance of turning. At 36 weeks, my chances are down to 10%, and he is measuring quite large, making it more difficult.

definately still time. My daughter was scheduled for a c-section last Friday because the baby was breech and got there & they did a sono & baby turned so they sent her home. Today is her due date.

My DS turned around 35 weeks, he was born at nearly 10lbs so if he had room to turn, any baby can turn! Chat Icon

I agree with this. Honestly, I do not want to scare anyone - but these "tricks" to turn the baby should be done only under the advice and supervision of your OB. My cousin tried some tricks to get her baby to turn and suffered tragic consequences.Chat Icon

Best of luck that your baby turnsChat Icon

Re: breech baby at 32 weeks - will it turn?

my baby was breech at 37.5 weeks and i had an external version done. this is when the dr. manually turns the baby to the downward position from the outside of your belly. sounds freaky but it did the trick.

my only other option was to schedule a c-section and hope that it turned by itself but i didnt want to wait to for that point b/c then they wouldnt be able to to the external that far along.

the procedure was done in the hospital by a highly trained dr. he was fantastic!!! it was uncomfortable but bearable and i am so glad i did it!! good luck!! the baby still has a chance to turn on its own though.. who knows!!
