Bloodwork Question

I tried calling LabCorp and no one answers the phone (at two different locations).

DS (8) has a script from the pediatrician to get routine bloodwork. He also has two scripts from the geneticist for bloodwork. He is going to be a nightmare to get blood from, but I also don’t want to overdo it with them taking blood from him (he is small for his age). Do I need to make two different appointments or can they do all of this at once? Anyone have any experience with more than one script for bloodwork?

Bloodwork Question

You would need to go to a lab that has the ability to draw and process both tests.

Re: Bloodwork Question

I have done more than one script, from different doctors at the same appointment.
If you are worried about the amount of blood they need to draw, they should be able to look up the tests and tell you.
My guess is, the amount for routine checks should be fairly small and not an issue to add it on.

Re: Bloodwork Question

Agree: check with above.

I’d do one appointment (giving my 7 year old a shot is enough of an ordeal)...

Each tube needs about a teaspoon of blood (it looks like more). An 8 year old (even a small one) will have plenty enough blood volume for 3 separate tubes... but double check with the lab about the number of tubes. I bet it’s 2 tubes (general labs go into one tube and genetic tests into the other due to the different preservatives in the tubes).

The lab should know based on the script. You may need to speak to the manager. Unfortunately, sometimes it’s better to physically go there to get the answer.
