Black tie optional - Sunday night wedding....what is appropriate to wear? to wear?
I am not sure if I should be wearing a gown or cocktails dress?
Any suggestions?

I think either would be fine. You can definitely get away with a fancy cocktail dress, in fact most people will probably be wearing that.
