Birthday party no RSVPs?

So 6/10 kids in my DS’s class did not RSVP to his party that is this weekend? I don’t have a class list with phone numbers to hunt these people down. I’m thinking most can’t come and didn’t bother to RSVP. But what if some do come? Should I bring extra favors? He’s in a small class so I just invited the whole class. I still have enough kids between family and outside friends for a good size party.

Birthday party no RSVPs?

This happened with my DD's party this year. Hardly anyone RSVP'd. And then, the Thurs or Fri before her party, they started texting, calling, telling me "yes" at pick up.
I'd give it a few more days because you will probably hear from more people. But if not - I would still bring extra favors. We had a few kids show up that didn't RSVP.

Re: Birthday party no RSVPs?

I think you'll get a couple last minute rsvps this week. I always just bring extra favors to be safe.

There are parents that think they only have to RSVP if they aren't coming, so I should assume they are coming if they don't respond.

Other parents only RSVP if they are coming, so if I don't hear from them, I should assume they aren't coming. It's just so weird. Like how about just respond no matter what with a "yes" or "no"? IIRC I think we had 5 extra kids at my sons party. There was a set of twins, so it was 4 parents that just showed up without RSVPing.

Happens every single time. It's like an epidemic.
People don't know how to RSVP. Everyone I talk to says the same thing.
I would bring extra favors just in case...

See I totally would but my son is in a small integrated Pre-K class and I don't have a class with contact info. I gave out the invitations in school. There is an end of year party tomorrow but my FIL in going. Eh I'll just bring extra favors, but I have to decide whether to just pay extra for the package with 18 kids or pay per extra kid over 12.

I threw a party last weekend. I was missing almost half the rsvps until the 48 hours before the party. Tons of "sorry for the late reply. Is it too late to come?" texts. Up until the night before the party. People are unbelievable.

Crazy! I have to admit that I am a terrible RSVPer. I've been trying to just reply right away so I don't forget.

Birthday party no RSVPs?

I'm surprised my idea still hasn't caught on:

Don't put the address on the invite. Tell them they'll get the address when they RSVP.

Birthday party no RSVPs?

It is so annoying. I also have a 6th Grade graduation party this weekend. Out of 22 kids, 4 responded they are coming and 1 that can't make it. It's ridiculous. I am not buying anything extra and if they show up then they will need to make due.

Non rspv-ers can potentially show up. It has happened to me. I’d bring extra favors just in case.

Typically a few people reach out last minute and say they'd love to come, is it too late?

Twice I've had people show up who had not RSVPed. Luckily both times we had enough favors, but that's frustrating.

I'd try asking around school. If you have one person's number, they may have someone else's and you can reach out via text.

Re: Birthday party no RSVPs?

In my experience,
(1) no rsvp = not coming (only once did I have someone just show up)
(2) people will rsvp up to the day before
(3) most people will wait until the rsvp date or later.

It always works out though!

(4) usually at least one cancels day of due to sickness or work.

It always works out though!
