BFing moms - nursing vs bottle question
so... in a bottle jonah takes 5oz per feeding. it takes him about 15 minutes to finish the bottle, sometimes longer.
when he nurses he is done in under 10 minutes.
could he really be taking all that milk in under 10 minutes? i'm afraid he's not getting enough from the breast.  it just seems counterintuitive that the flow from the breast would be FASTER than the flow from the bottle. 
thoughts?

I think he's probably getting that much or more from nursing. They're really efficient at the breast. I'm sure he's getting enough.

Omg, my letdown or flow is WAY faster than the bottle. I never realized until she pulled off and it was a stream squirting her in the face  I'm sure he is getting enough

When my dd does take the breast, she is much quicker at feeding but she also seems less fussy. So i think they do get what they need when they are breast feed. i wish my dd would take more often, but i dont want bottle dropped completely b/c i work.

Babies can drain a Boob like there is no tommorrow so I am sure he is getting plenty if not more than needed

I have that squirting problem also. Sometimes my let down is so fast the baby can't keep up and actually starts choking. Its pretty funny though when my boob is a sprinkler. Who would have known.

I agree.
Also-- I don't think that BF babies necessarily eat exactly the same amount every time they BF. I mean, do you always eat the same exact amount at each meal?
I've never worried what DS gets at the breast. As long as he's thriving and meeting his milestones, he's getting enough.

Im not sure what is more common, but my DD definately eats faster on the bottle than on the breast. But she only takes 2 oz of the bottle and I have no clue how much milk she is getting from me obviously.
