bf moms- cold meds?
i am soooo sick w/ a cold. what can i take? please say sudofed cold and sinus is ok.....

I looked up Sudafed and it fell under Pseudoephedrine... so it says that it can cause agitation or fussiness in the infant and decrease the milk supply... but the risk is greatest druing the first six weeks after delivery. It also says you should choose one with 30 milligrams or less of pseudoephedrine per dose, avoid sustained-release and products with other ingredients.

the box says "Pseudoephedrine free" . does that mean it's ok. dc is 4 months. would u take it?

Also... I dont know if you have a cough, but the two most common drugs are guaiafenesin and dextromethorphan, and both are safe during breastfeeding.
As far as decongestants... nasal sprays like Afrin are preferable to oral drugs.
And Theophylline and Aminophylline have been well studied and are generally acceptable during nursing.
