Because of the size of your baby did you have to take a 2nd Glucose screening even though you passed the first time???

The baby is weighing approx 6 pounds right now and I'll be 35 weeks Wed. Dr said that the baby is in the 89th percentile of weight saying it's a pretty big baby, could possibly be a 10 pounder.

She wasn't too concerned but wanted me to take another glucose test. Anyone have to do this because of the size of the baby?

I believe waterspout04 went through this. She just recently had her baby, you might want to try and FM her.

I just went on Friday for my 36 wk appt and my baby is weighing in at 7.7 lbs! I actually started crying i was so shocked. She also told me that the weight could be off by a lot bc they base it on the measurments they take.

My doc wasnt concerned at all, so I am not going to stress over it. But I can'thelp thinking OUCH!

ETA - she did not mention taking another glucose test.

yes.
I believe medically, typically babies are big when mothers have GD. I think that is why they want to retest, just to make sure that its big w/out you having GD or if you do to take care of it

I took the damn test 3 times.

My baby was born at 11lbs 8 oz at week 38.

They tested him at least 3 times in the hospital too. Grrrrrrrr.

Neither of us had it.

I failed #1, passed #2, but still my doctor suggested I cut out sweets b/c the little guy is measuring big. So I didn't need to take another test b/c I was handling the sugar ok, but she said at this point it's making for a chubby baby.

They had me take another in case the first was a false negative. I did not have GD and my dd was 9 10.

Yes, and it's completely STUPID! My mom had big babies, my grandmother, my other grandmother. UH, I have a good chance at a heafty baby too. And to be honest, I don't mind because I think more to hug. Not to mention, my doc. even bypassed the second test and considered me GD just b/c of the size. Granted my baby's weight slowed down because I cut out a lot of sweets and what not. But these days, docs are alarmists!

1st pregnacy i had a10lbs baby and passed my 1 hr fine. this time bc i had a big baby they are making me do a three hour at 14 weeks( skipping the 1 hr) and then another one at 26 weeks i think regardless if i pass or fail the first three hour at 14 weeks.
