I borrowed it from the library, and didn't find it that useful.

Someone told me that it may be an older version at the library. I do remember MrsJ saying she bought her online at half.com or something like that.

Smithtown Library has the 2005 version, don't think there is a 2006 yet.

Re: Baby Bargains Book.....

Definitely made things much easier. I got one at the library, but the edition my library had was out of date so we broke down and bought it so we'd have the most up to date. It wasn't that expensive and definitely worth the investment for the advice it contained.

Re: Baby Bargains Book.....

I find its tips very helpful. I like that they rate the manufacturers on customer service & how they handle recalls. They gave me a different insight into many features I didn't know were important. For example, my husband is 6ft. In the stroller section, it mentions for tall husbands, you would want adjustable handles so their feet don't hit the back of the stroller while pushing. Something I would never think about. Another thing is having a cordless phone interfere with monitors, which ones work better.

If I remeber correctly, there was a special section for twins too. I would look at it before you buy it. For me it was definitely worth the $14.

I found the book very, very helpful. It isn't about buying "cheap" stuff, its about buying what you need and avoiding overpaying for stuff that just doesn't matter. Sometimes they tell you to buy something more expensive if its worth it. I've found their advice to be right on. Happy shopping!

E.Northport Library has the newest copy (2 actually)...if they are out, they will bring it in from another library for you.

I love it! VERY helpful...... Also, a new version 6.1 just came out, updated with the 2006 information. I have the 6.0 and you can download the 3 new sections off the website = I didn't bother with that......but in the new sections they review the new Graco Saftey 1st infant seat. I would think that the library still has the old version.

This was also my bible when registering, it really helped me narrow down choices and choose items that are high in safety and functionality.

Re: Baby Bargains Book.....

I didn't buy it... I just went to Borders and took some notes. It had good info, but I didn't use all their recommendation. I used a combination of Baby bargains, Consumer reports and recommendations from friends.

Re: Baby Bargains Book.....

i belong to the huntington library and they requested it in suffolk and think center moriches had the latest copy. it was very useful used it as reference for most. consumer reports was horrible didnt go by that. they didnt really rate they just talked about the product in general.

Re: Baby Bargains Book.....

It's not that expensive, so I would buy it rather than borrow from the library. I still refer back to mine when I have a question about buying something I'm not sure of. I read it before I went to register, and since I own it, I was able to mark it up and write all over it, etc.
